United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Fuji White

Well, aremed with nothing but courage and an element of stupidity I decided to see if it was working this morning. Start the car, open the bonet, let it run for a couple of minutes and feel the exhaust of the FBH.

Its working.

As I am still able to type, I didnt do too much damage. Laughing RRS 3.0D HSE 11MY - Fuji White, a few extras.

Any way to test if this is working, other than wait until it is cold and turn the car on looking for smoke? Laughing

You can reach under the car when the engine is idling and cold and you should feel some warm exhaust coming from the FBH exhaust even if there's no smoke. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

England 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Fuji White

Ok - so why do some of them smoke like f Whistle and why do some just calmly warm up the car as they should do? Surely this demonstrates a fault on the very smoky ones. Mine falls in to the latter category... Jaguar XKR Convertible

searching on Disco3, there was a thread that mentions a air leak, but i don't know if it was relating to the smoke issue

then there is this thread which says they smoke due to carbon build up

Australia 2013 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 SE Fuji White

The white "smoke" looks like unburnt diesel fumes from the FBH rather than smoke from the combustion of fuel.
Maybe for some reason (lack of air for combustion) the ignition system is heating the fuel and evaporating it but it is clearly not igniting.
The ignition circuit has an electric heating coil to start the fuel burning but for some reason there is no combustion starting just evaporation of fuel.
Just a thought.

My guess is that a seized or failed combustion fan/motor in the unit could cause these symptoms.
