Was in the dealers yesterday to check out the strange vibration. It isn't happening very often but we have identified now that it has caused bad wear on a very thin strip of the inside edge of both rear tyres. this is variable around the circumference, not consistent as you would normally get with a tracking issue.

You could try a 4 wheel allignment first. Should be around £25/30 ish from a decent tyre place.

Sorry - meant to say in my earlier post - all 4 wheels were rebalanced last Friday to rule this variable out... Jaguar XKR Convertible

In that case the wear on the inside edges of the rears could be due to a very slight toe out on that axle? I'd go down the cheaper laser alignmnet route first before even considering changing the tyres. I highly doubt any manufacturing defects in the Toyos would be the cause. Has camber adjustment on rear axle been checked? |

They went through a full check of all suspension and rear of the car and came up with nothing. I'm thinking if it's camber or tracking Ghent it would be consistent wear around the circumference of the tyre rather than worse in some spots than other. Just don't get it

A couple of years ago, over 7,000 miles all four Pirellis on my TdV8 developed an odd wear pattern over a narrow band on the inside shoulder where the tread meets the sidewall. In the end one of the rears wore right through to the wire in several places and the profile looked as if the tyre had been rubbing on something. (it hadn't). This was all after several four wheel alignments by the dealer.

Hi, after waiting 9 months to get my 2012 autobiography finally came in 2 weeks ago and I'm having the same problem with a very rough ride. They balanced all 4 tiires last week and still the same, only has 500 miles on it, So taking it back in next week. It also revs high and low at stops and they said that was normal. Well I had another 2012 supercharged RR sport that I traded in and had no problems on the ride or reving high, low at stops. Was wondering if you have found a fix on the rough ride.

Seems to be a common issue, balancing won't cure it, you need to get the car properly aligned on a 4 wheel alignment system.

Geo is a work of art and requires someone who really understands how to use the equipment. I had a s2000 and a proper geo setup absolutely transformed the car a rubbish one made it worse. Ideally the rrs should be set up with the engine running ensuring the suspension is at driving height, not off so the vehicle tris to level its self. Before getting the geo done check the vehicle height is the same all the way around. we could do with a sponsor who understands how to set up the rrs. Usually takes at least an hour to set up as done properly it should be set then driven then reset again.
