EAS control unit anyone used one?

I've just took delivery of my EAS control unit from here:
http://www.lrparts.net/pp/RANGE_ROVER_SPOR...SPORT.html

Thing I'm wanting to know is the standard driving hight is 18 1/2 inch from center of the wheel to top of the wheel arch.

Using this control drops it to 17 3/4 inch to the same position, this is not even as low as the access hight on standard settings that is 16 1/2 inch.

Just wondered if anyone has used one if they got there's to around the same hight as the access settings???

Thought this was a better option than the suspension link

Why would you want to lower it to access hight?? You surely can't be thinking your going to be driving it around at that hight? You'll be bouncing all over the road! When I pull off my drive and mines in access hight, until it raises I feel I look a bit of an idiot driving up my road bouncing on the bump stops. Lol.

Each to there own mate, I just feel the car looks better with the wheels filling the arch's (and I'm not a chav) just a personal preffrence.

My RR only covers a small amount of miles a week around 40 to 50 so this wouldn't be to much of a issue to be honest.

It's not that I don't think the range looks better at access hight. Whenever I park that's the first thing I do is drop it to access, not because it's easier getting in and out, just cause it looks better. But have you tried actually driving for any distance when on access hight? It would shake you and the car to oblivion. And I would say it would be dangerous to drive.

Don't you need to re-calibrate the vehicle ride height after fitting this part?

I'm not sure what exactly the control unit does other than allow you to lower the range. But I would've thought there is no need to calibrate anything as the control unit should do this for you. I remember with the old p38's you used to be able to get a diagnostic lead to plug in a lap top and a program that loaded up so you could set them at the required hight you wanted. I would think this control unit is the same sort of thing.

I'm using one at the moment

-25mm and yes it makes the 22's look less "lost" in the wheelarches

Ride height is slightly firmer

Access height will not stay lowered if you've lowered it more than 22mm on the 05-07 cars (go's into extended mode)

But I find I do not use access anyway once it's lowered, so real no issue

I've tried a -29mm adjustment which looked "bang on" for a motorway style height but the suspension was shocking ( Access mode quality) so -25mm is maximum if you wish to keep your fillings in. Thumbs Up RRS gone

and no callibration is needed

It just backs up your vehicle's current settings... then adjusts them by the requested amount (+40 to -40 iirc)

The car can be returned to standard by the clicking in the menu. RRS gone

That sounds good as it goes. So can you explain where it's plugged in and how you use it. Is it something that you leave plugged in and can adjust hight whenever you want or is it a plug in and set it then unplug??

AWD Man, is this a simple plug and play module or do you link it into a laptop or something to set it? TDV8 HSE, Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm), Taylored sport exhaust system by Pipe Werx

Finally I've sorted mine out, the American based company are so helpful it's unreal.

These things are so easy to use I think for £200 there well worth it!!!

No laptop or anything needed just plug and play, the module has 3 internal memory positions so it can save your 3 favorite settings aswell as keeping the standard setting.
It takes 30 seconds from plugging it in to adjusting the suspension and unplugging again.

Hello shane
The unit from gap diagnostics is a great bit of kit. All manuals are downloadable from gap-diagnostics.com. The normal height for mine is 200mm from edge of rim to wheel arch.
There are quite a few posts on the unit, as the developers asked for some beta testers last October.

Locates in the ODB port (under the steering column) with the engine off and ignition on. Thumbs Up

EAS Menu is then selected via the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel.

Once the settings have been changed, turn off ignition and remove EAS (no need to re-insert it

Dash mate

The menu is accessed through the steering wheel c/control switches and viewed via the dash display

Once the new height info is inputed, just turn off the ignition and remove the EAS from the ODB port... no need to re-insert it unless you want to run EAS again. Thumbs Up RRS gone
