TDV6 v's 4.2 SC on lpg

Hello all,

Im looking into getting a range rover sport but just trying to decide which one to go for.

I would like to keep my budget under 20k as its a second car, then i also have a few motorbikes also.

So im looking at the TDV6 for about 17k with 70k ish miles or shall i go for the SC one then fit an LPG kit to it, again about 17k but then 2k for the LPG system.

I had a L322 which i converted to LPG and had no issues with the running etc, the guy who does my servicing is fine with it having an LPG system on, so that side is fine.

Ive read on here the TDV6 will do 450 miles to £110 worth of fuel, the SC on lpg would (if i could try drive it steady) about 500 miles to the same amount of fuel, i have local LPG station too.

So i cant decide which one to go for, i am a petrol head and i bet the supercharged one will sound ace but then the sensible head starts saying think of when you are trying to sell it in a few years!!

Suggestion would be great.

You've got bikes to go fast, buy a 2.7, almost nothing on four wheels will compare to a big sports bike.
The 2.7 is adequate enough and will do 27 to the gallon around town 30 plus at a sensible cruise.

Impressed with the LPG figures you are quoting, and interested to hear some more about the conversion.

My annual mileage may be coming down to <10k from more than 28k, so would be a good swap for my TDV8. You only live once so I'd go for the supercharged!

England 2011 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Santorini Black

Supercharged and LPG do not go together very well. There's loads of horror stories on here about it. So beware guys. Thumbs Up MY11 Autobiography supercharged. Santorini Black. Monaco interior. Rear screens. Privacy.
Gone MY08 Supercharged HST. Java black. Ivory premium interior. Rear screens. Privacy. Missed a lot.
Gone MY04 Discovery V8 Petrol ES Premium. Awesome.

+1 Thumbs Up

I have a Supercharged and I was thinking of doing the same thing with the LPG but heard too many horror stories so left well alone! I do about 10k a year so although the running costs could be less it really isn't an issue with doing such low mileage compared with the smile it will put on your face when you let the horses out, feel & hear that V8 go! Thumbs Up

One bit of advice I got from this forum before I decided to buy my S/C when I asked if the S/C were really expensive to run was this: 'If you are worried about the running costs buy a TDV6' That really made my mine up for me - I went a bought a S/C!!! I can't smile wide enough when I put my food down!! Now looking to replace it with the new 5.0Ltr S/C when the right one comes along!

You'll get smile a mile in either I'm sure! They are a lovely place to be in all weathers! Just do it and do it NOW!! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Cheers Laurence.
