Hey all, I've looked in my boot and the tow bar ain't there. My question is, do all RRS come with detachable tow bars and electrics ? Is it just a case of me buying a tow bar ?

Got to buy one and get the electrics fitted, don't come as standard with the car. Bought my tow bar off EBay and got the dealer to do the electrics for a hundred pounds or there abouts.

You might have the electrics if the car is second hand. Mine had the electrics but no tow bar. Looked at the tow bar fitting behind the rear bumper and it had definitely been used; I guess the previous owner took it with him. Which was annoying but then I should have checked before I paid the dealer for the car! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Mine was the same, Tow Ball missing but luckily the dealer has taken the spec from the system and listed the car for sale with Tow Pack.... so they kindly supplied me with a nice new removable tow ball.

If electrics are present u will see a single or twin plug under the tow eye cover, Electrics are a quick job to fit, loom from LR is around £100

Unless the car was factory fitted with the tow pack, the dealer wouldn't necessarily be liable , I had mine fitted aftermarket , and I will take the towbar with me when it gets traded in!!
Some cars left the factory with electrics fitted anyway, they build a car to a spec then change it at last minute - it's not worth the hassle to take it back off!

@codfather: true, but it's always worth checking when buying as x5pea showed. Assuming something's fitted can be expensive later when you discover it isn't... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Yes , I know, some dealers will hold back the hitch until on a used car until asked for it, some people won't touch a car that has been used for towing. If they don ask then I'm sure they end up on eBay to fund the Christmas night out!!

If towpack is stated on the spec, then the car should be sold as such, bit like going to pick up your car and finding they only put 3 wheels on it!!

I bought the hitch and electrics off ebay and fitted it myself. Took about 30 minutes to fit, it is just a plug and play wiring harness. The fiddly bit is feeding the cable through the grommet. LR Defender 90 - gone
RRS Supercharged HST - gone
Audi S3 Sportback Black Editiion - gone
RRS SDV6 - current
