I have had a good search through the previous posts but can't find if anyone has ever fitted an additional camera to thier trailer and had it hooked up to the screen in there car.

I currently have a reversing camera that is fitted to the HSE 2010 model as standard but would like to connect up another rear camera (attached at the back of the trailer) when I am towing as I can't see anything behind the trailer as it is a covered trailer and massive.

I can purchase a reversing camera with LEDs etc no problem from the bay and power it from the reverse lights but need to tie it in to the existing camera and front sceen. Does the existing reverse camera on the car connect to a camera module somewhere with an RCA input ?? If so I could use a RCA switch to get the picture of the trailer on the screen when selected.

Has anyone done any research on this ?

I'm guessing the technology's there, it's just hooking it up. I drove a MY12 with surround cameras just before Christmas, so I'm guessing that there is software to do what you want.......how you'd do it.......I have no idea, sorry  ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

We had a motorhome and towed a large trailer having a reversing camera on the back of both. It is certainly possible but this was to a seperate unit fitted in place of the rear view mirror and showed a permanent feed. I could switch between cameras, useful for reversing.

I did have some nice remarks about how well I reversed sometimes but it is quite easy with the camera's (once you get used to it) and almost cheating!?!

I'm sure you can do it on an RRS. It's all a question of time and money.......

Thanks for the replies, I have had a good look on Disco3 and there is loads of topics on this subject but it gets very complicated and most of info is for systems with multi camera surround option. I wanted to PM Wiggs but havn't done enough posts.
