Tried looking online but could not find anything useful, although I do remember a thread similar to this one a year or go or so.

Anyway, sometimes I listen the music a bit loud (not too loud, say 7 out of 10) and have SatNav turned on at the same time, SatNav voice commands comes in suddenly SO loud , it nearly makes my ears bleed... Is there a way to reduce SatNav volume?

I don't know what model year you have.... but on my 2012..... when the satnav is actually giving the commands turn the volume knob down and she will stop screaming..... all the way down to a whisper...
This also works for other audible sounds in the car including the park distance control......

Great logical system... in my other car you need a programming degree to do the same thing

u just adjust the volume when its talking via the same controls for the stereo.

The setting is based on the volume of the stereo + or - the nav volume setting.

But that doesn't keep the volume at that level, the next time the sat nav comes in on mine she's back to the same previous loud level  Have i got the busted controller?!?!!?

Exactly! I have the same problem and i have MY10 model.

same here, and seemingly there's nothing we can do

Mine is a MY10 TDV8 and I followed the instructions in the handbook when the phone nearly blew me out of the car on the way home during the delivery trip.

Here's the excerpt from the MY10 manual section "Audio level setting" - it works on my car !!!!:-

Audio level settings VOLUME ADJUSTMENT
Sustained exposure to high sound levels can
damage your hearing.
To access the volume set up menu,
press and hold the Tone hard key
until the volume set up menu is displayed. The
soft keys to the left, allow you to choose a
setting to adjust (AVC, INFO, NAV, PHONE and
VOICE). The boxes to the right of the soft keys
show the values currently set for each option.
The bar graph and the +/– soft keys are used to
change the settings and show the changes.
Note: If no change is made within ten seconds,
the volume set up menu will disappear.
Automatic Volume Control (AVC)
Automatic Volume Control adjusts the volume
level as the vehicle speed increases. This
compensates for the increase in noise at
increased speeds.
From the volume set up menu, touch the AVC
soft key to display the settings for AVC.
The bar graph represents the amount by which
the volume level may increase. If the smallest
bar is selected, the AVC function will be turned
off. In this state the volume will not increase
with vehicle speed. The remaining bars (from 1
to 9) will increase the volume level up to the
maximum level selected.
To increase the level of volume change, press
the + soft key. Each press will select the next
bar to the right, up to the maximum (9).
To decrease the level of volume change, press
the – soft key. Each press will select the next
bar to the left, down to the minimum (1). A
subsequent press of the – soft key will switch
AVC off.
Information announcements
Press the INFO soft key from the volume set up
menu, to adjust the volume level for radio
announcements, such as news broadcasts and
traffic announcements on RDS.
To increase the volume level, press the + soft
key. Each press will select the next bar to the
right, up to the maximum (9).
To decrease the volume level, press the – soft
key. Each press will select the next bar to the
left, down to the minimum (1).
Navigation guidance
Press the NAV soft key from the volume set up
menu, to adjust the volume level for navigation
guidance messages.
To increase the volume level, press the + soft
key. Each press will select the next bar to the
right, up to the maximum (9).
To decrease the volume level, press the – soft
key. Each press will select the next bar to the
left, down to the minimum (1).
Telephone volume
Press the PHONE soft key from the volume set
up menu, to adjust the volume level for the
telephone.
To increase the volume level, press the + soft
key. Each press will select the next bar to the
right, up to the maximum (25).
To decrease the volume level, press the – soft
key. Each press will select the next bar to the
left, down to the minimum (5).

According to the Topix manual for a 2009 model car - Pages 276-278 there is the same facility with "pre-facelift" cars but it's accessed slightly differently.

I posted a thread about this about a year ago. Doing what scrumps suggests only changes the volume in relation to the volume you are listening to on the radio. You cannot decrease the volume lower than what the radio or whatever you are listening to is set at - you can only set it to be at or louder than what you are listening to. I do RTFM.

In my jag you used to be able to fully set the Nav volume indepentently of anything else you are listening to so it always came in at an acceptable volume. It's strange given the two systems are very similar. 3.0 SDV6 HSE Dynamic, Corris Grey with contrast Santorini Black Panoramic Roof, lunar interior, privacy glass, upgraded Meridian system, cooled 18 way front seats, heated steering wheel, adaptive xenons, large screen wash bottle.

Gone: 3.0 TDV6 HSE, Santorini Black, Ivory/Lunar interior, grand black lacquer finish, HK Logic 7.1 Surround, Privacy Glass, Adaptive Xenons, heated steering wheel.

Gone: Jaguar XF Luxury, Pearl Grey, Dove Interior
