Hi guys, engine management light has come on today, anything I can check before I go to land rover and get ripped off?? I'm not very technical so don't be saying anything confusing haha. Checked fluid levels and all ok. It's a 08 v6 rrs diesel so any help I would be very very grateful......

How old is the car? EGR valves are very common....sometimes you won't even notice any loss in power....

No I mean call Ghostbusters.......

Yes, but AA may not have the right diagnostic equipment....do you have any LR warranty or breakdown cover?

if it egr valve like mine was the aa on both times took less than 5 mins to find fault.! the best way was to feel the mesh pipes under engine cover, one of mine was cold and one hot,so thats how he found it.!! top tip,i had aa warranty repair cover,aa man talked me into it when joined aa.! glad he did as they picked up bill off £400 minus £35 excess.!! thats for just one,the other went soon to and they paid up again.! not bad as i only been with them a few months and only paid them about £25. result Mr. Green

Mine was on and fault code was P0490 - EGRs. I got geared up to start replacing and disconnected the passenger side EGR electrical connector while having a look how tight things are - reconnected the connector and faulkts cleared - came back twice but has now gone after me playing with contacts in the connector - fault was just a contact not connecting.
