Radio message "LOW POWER MODE" with battery symbol

This has not been a good week for me at all Sad

First I get the dredded knocking noise from my front suspension, now I have a message appear on my stereo every now and then saying "LOW POWER MODE" with a battery symbol next to it...

Anyone had this issue before? If so, how did you fix it?

Thanks I went from a Mini Cooper to a:

>> Range Rover Sport (HSE)
>> Midnight Blue
>> '06
>> Hawke Grill, Engine Tuning, Exhaust System
>> Sitting in 20s (need to upgrade to 22s - let me know if you have any for sale)
>> Rear DVD screens
>> Full Beige Leather Interior

Talk about the extra room! Jheez!!

hi you may need a a new alternator / battery

when engine is running check voltage on battery make sure its showing more than 12v and fluctuating up between 12-14 v

beware driving in this state as the car will drain battery in about 10 min resulting in car shut down

hope this helps

I'm pretty sure it usually only comes on when the engine is off and batt dips below a certain level whilst your using the stereo. Its designed to prevent you from running the bat flat whilst the kids watch DVD's in the rear.

when is it doing it?

Hi guys,

Thanks for your replies...

The error message has only appeared a few times recently. Twice whilst I was driving and the other was when I was parked up. On the occasions that I was driving, I turned the stereo off for a few seconds and turned it back on, and I could turn the volume up as usual.

Just out of curiosity, how much is it to replace the alternator?

Alternator, maybe? I had number of RRS's and D3's have the same problem. Radio unit has a direct feed from battery. This line has a splice somewhere where other units share the feed. This splice point may corrode and voltage drops to radio. I may tell distance from radio to this splice but LR does not give exact location. Hope this helps. One life, live it...

Sounds like alternator TBH.

I've just paid £215 +vat for my new alternator from Britpart.

They are selling 3 a week at the mo (of my type alone!)

Regards,

Andy

hello eshber
befor you spend your hard earned cash on an altenator,
do you drive mainly in the dark?
could be something as simple as few months winter driving, with lights, heated windows/seats, blowers on and radio, and the battery is struggling to get any charge.
Try a small inteligent charger and leave it on all night, then see how you get on Thumbs Up

That message on the radio happened to me for a few weeks before the battery let me down & had to replace.
About £120 for new battery. Not happened since. Thumbs Up

I agree with Shepp.

Happened also to me when i drove short distances for a few days.
After making a longer drive, message is gone. Stayed away for years.

The message is always showing while radio on, engine off, to protect the battery.

Ofcourse the seller is allowed to charge for his service as he likes.

The real question is: Seriously, did you actualy pay that for a battery? Rolling with laughter
