I'm pretty sure it usually only comes on when the engine is off and batt dips below a certain level whilst your using the stereo. Its designed to prevent you from running the bat flat whilst the kids watch DVD's in the rear.

Alternator, maybe? I had number of RRS's and D3's have the same problem. Radio unit has a direct feed from battery. This line has a splice somewhere where other units share the feed. This splice point may corrode and voltage drops to radio. I may tell distance from radio to this splice but LR does not give exact location. Hope this helps. One life, live it... |

That message on the radio happened to me for a few weeks before the battery let me down & had to replace.
