United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged HST Java Black
Battery Died

Last night .. Sad

Luckily was parked up in the warm at Johnopolis's place, nipped in for a Tea and quick wheel spruce up !! Mr. Green

Cheers J for the boost of the C-Tech charger to get me going Thumbs Up Missis was due tuesday so glad it went then rather than when she was in labour Shocked

Anyway getting prices this morning and hopefully she will start when I head out off to sort, few questions for you chaps ..

My mirrors have now stopped moving when im in reverse is this easily changeable or is this a visit to the stealers ??

Have amber light fault now flashing on the speedo, adaptive lights one could this be just because the battery has gone flat, as the sides, are moving when you corner etc from what I can tell, and again is this a dealer re set jobbie ?

A few weeks ago someone posted there car was starting to take a few extra coughs to fire occasionally, and was gradually getting worse, which mine was doing also.. guess this is what was the signs of the old battery giving up the ghost Whistle

Just got a factors price of £61 + VAT for a Bosch Unit.. waiting on dealers price this morning

Any online suggestions, std battery ok or should I upgrade ?

Make sure you get the correct battery if you go for non-LR. Just replaced the battery in mine. The one that died was the wrong rating (being only 80Ah/700A instead of 90Ah/950A)!

FYI, mine was £145 from LR for a new 90Ah, 950A battery. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks Mate, had a mare this morning three different batteries all should of been right one, all slightly wrong either too long, too tall etc, interestingly though you said your old one was wrong, the one that died was an original LR part and was 700A ?

New one is 720A ? All fitted and working fine, so hopefully I'm good for the winter and on now Thumbs Up RRS S/C, Factory Fitted Full HST kit, 22" Overfinch SS, Carbon Vents & Grill .. - FOR SALE - PM me for details

The now-dead one that was fitted to mine was a Jaguar Land Rover battery by Varta. It was the wrong rating though. It was also physically a bit shorter than the correct item.

Your RRS is petrol, yes? They use a different battery to the diesels. 70Ah vs 90Ah according to the user manual. The one that died in mine was 80Ah. I think it was just a Jag battery that someone thought "that'll do, it's close enough". And it was. For a while. No idea how long it had been in there though.

The correctly rated unit is a tight fit in the battery locating box on my car.

As an aside, the dealer price was better than the local factors could do it for. I think the factor was doing a better battery but I decided that I'd stick a genuine LR unit in just in case there are any electrical gremlins during the warranty period. Wouldn't want them to have the battery being non-LR as an excuse to avoid sorting stuff under warranty.

I know the battery itself isn't covered by the warranty but I can see them sucking their teeth and saying "wrong battery mate, that's what screwed the furzel-widget and here's the big bill for the new widget! Not covered by the warranty see coz the battery's wrong". We all know what the b Censored ds are like... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Hi, after a low battery occasion you may see adaptive light warning on instrument pack. After you change the battery, switch on headlamps with ignition off, then just start the engine. Headlamps will calibrate themselves doing weird movements and warning will extinguish.. Hope this helps.. One life, live it...

I did see the adaptive lights warning after my battery change. Didn't do the procedure as you outlined but switching on the lights did make them calibrate themselves. Might just have been lucky I guess. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
