United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red

A turbo failed on my TDv8 at 4 years old and 78 thousand miles. LR picked up half the bill when I grumbled about it. I had to demonstrate that I was a life long LR buyer.

Make sure your vehicle is recovered to a workshop who knows what they are doing and have the correct body lift off ramp. My vehicle repair turned into a completely unnecessary wild goose chase around my engine. But once put back together she has run just fine for the last 10 thousand miles.

By the way - I got no error message and the turbo failure was sudden (when accelerating away from a junction) and the vehicle would not start again afterwards. So if yours has simply lost power and was driven home - I suspect you may be looking at something less than a wholescale turbo failure.

Hope all better soon and Christmas doesn't have to be cancelled Thumbs Up RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

Unfortunately no warranty which is a lession learned!

The indy garage i'm using is investigating further, fault code is turbo related however they cannot discount if its a wastegate failure or even a splithose or pipe.

Its good to know they are not just assuming its a turbo failure, even revving engine to 4000 rpm and no smoke which they say is a good sign!

I'll update you guys hopefully in the next few days! RRS SDV6 PHEV Autobiography - MY2018 conversion

Hello - quick update, good news is that the turbo has not failed and that the actuator on the turbo had completely got stuck closed! They also checked the other one and found that one stuck on 25%!

I pick the car up later today but his last words to me was the car is a rocket ship!

Needless to say I am very pleased its few hundred than few thousand, i'll be buying a warrenty asap!

I shall also post the fault code so if anyone else gets this issue they can let the garage know what to look for.

I do feel like going back to the first garage I went to a few days ago and giving them a bit of stick for telling me I needed a new turbo! RRS SDV6 PHEV Autobiography - MY2018 conversion

Nice Very Happy How did they fix actuators? Did they change actuator rods, which are available seperately from LR? One life, live it...

Hello, the fault code was P0249 and the acuators were stuck and taken apart cleaned and re assembled. The car drives very well with more power than before and can now here the V8 growl!
