RRS Diesels and High Mileage ??

Hi all,

Looking around, quite a few RRSs seem to have fairly high mileages i.e. 70k - 120k miles.

I get the impression that the TDV8 can handle these and is pretty much bullet proof - is this correct ?

What is the TDV6 like with high mileages ? Is it less resilient to high miles compared to the TDV 8 ? Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

Thanks for the feedback guys. anyone on here with engines going strong at 100K+ ?

I am contemplating if it is worth me saving a bit of money and buying one with say 70k/80k + and putting on 15k a year ! Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

Thanks gius, especially Jo with his 90ker !

How difficult do you think it will be to sell an RRS with over 100k ? Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

Dont think it will be too difficult tbh mine still looks brand new, but keeping that in mind think I will be trading mine in when I get back to the uk for newer, lower mileage sport

selling cars with over 100k miles is difficult unless they are cheap, its a philological thing with joe public. Reallity is they are good for much much more if well maintained.

Buy a high miles car and doing few miles yourself can work out financially but if your planning to do a lot yourself get shot of it around 80/90k.

Thanks, I figured as much. I may be better off going with a lower mileage car and then having at least 2-3 years of running it. Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Arctic Frost

My RRS 2005 TDV6 HSE has 100K miles on it. Had it inspected prior to purchase and checked the service history with a magnifying glass. It went into a LR dealer for a few bits and pieces whilst I was away working and they pronounced it a very nice example.

It's now being looked after by an independent who says similar (kiss of death as someone has already posted...) similar.

I intend to change the oil and filter every 5K miles, this makes a huge difference to high miler engines in their third age my experience tells me.

It wasn't cheap (in the current climate I could have bought many style of new car for what I paid but it was the going rate for RRS of this ilk).

Like anything motor related, do your homework and you can buy well.

I'm very pleased and when I look at some of the posts people with new cars have problems that mine hasn't (yet).

There's some dogs out there for sure.... 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE in Artic Frost. 20" 2010 HST Alloys, sidesteps, Hawke tips, plus minor bits and bobs along with a remap. Four spike spiders ready for the Alps again now tucked up in their garage boxes...
