A lot is down to the use that Land Rover expect their cars to be put to. BTW my 2007MY TDV8 requires 15000 miles or 12 months too. My defender has 6 months or 9000 miles............... at 14 years old and 4000 miles annually maximum these days it gets an annual service whether it needs one or not because it is used 90% of the time off-road. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Some cars have condition-based servicing (i.e. most German marques), others use elapsed time or mileage. Up to you of course if you don't want to adhere to the service schedule, but you might end up running into problems with warranty claims and/or sticky resale questions if you only service it when you want to... 2009 Outstanding Contribution Award - Joint Runner Up 2009 'Tech-Head Of The Year' Award - Runner Up Like it here?
