An incredible moron just drove into me

Bad news for me, I'm afraid.
Central London, night, slow traffic. A huge Mercedes Axor Sainsbury delivery truck stood stationary on the right hand side of the road. I was driving on the left. There were no cars in front of him, I decided to go in front of him and change into the right hand side of the road (on way road). However, I could not go all the way, because there was a car infront of me. So managed to get only halfway through until the read door, slightly staying on his way. The Censored decided to take off suddenly and rammed my right door side skirts, then the mirror and then the right wing. I tried to get away but could not, because there was a car infornt of me.

What an idiot. Unbelievable. Took his details etc, gave him mine. He did not even know what happened, but claims he has got a witness who states that I was driving like crazy trying to cut him and change into the right hand side.

Called up my insurance, they will call me back in the morning. This is first time I report an accident and not sure how it works. The police did not come, but on the phone they said that the his and mine insurance will sort it out. I was wondering how? If there were not there. I have a photo taken immediately after the accident, which clearly shows that I am in front of him and by the damage on my car it is clear how much in front oh tim I was staying... half of the car.

New mirror, repainted side skirt and bent right wing = what kind of cost am I looking at?

Any thought would be appreciated.

Pics will post tomorrow. Vadim A.

Sorry to hear this Vadim, hope you are ok.

Basically you tell your version to your insurers he tells his insurers. Then they try to blame each other and who ever wins gets their excess on the insurance back.

More than likely your RRS was in his blind spot from your description and he didnt see you, or he ignored his blind spot mirrors that are fitted above his windscreen.

I totally feel for you, but its best left for the insurers to sort out now.

End of the day whats happened can be repaired. The only cost to you should be the excess on your policy if they find you guilty of the cause of accident.

Chin up its happened to a peice of metal and you are still in one peice. TDV8 HST STORNOWAY ON A 58

NickM, unfortunately this is England and the law is very powerful here.... haha. I was so angry I was going to bash his head in right there, but thanks god he locked himself in the car and would not leave the cabin for good 20 min.
I will take proper photos and post it here any sec.

I took a photo at the scene immediately after it happened, and luckily it is a good one. It shows me trying to get away from him with my RHS mirror reverted inside-out. Also, I have a photo of the truck which shows no additional blind spot mirrors. Are they required by law?

Foxy, seriously? It was in central London, next to Mayfair place, the street parallel to Mahiki knight club.

I will try to book place with David K LPR this Monday.

Question: the fact that the car has now been involved in a minor accident. Does it have any effect on the selling price in a year or two?

Anyway, it is surprising how any kind of support helps. Thank you all. Keeping positing Big Cry Neutral

I am out to take photos. Vadim A.

Hi Vadim,

Sorry to hear about your accident. David is back in on monday if you want to give him a call.

I have spoken to Paul who looks after our approved bodyshop and he will be happy to look at the car and offer some advice and prices if needed.

With regards to this having any effect on the value of the car as long as the work is carried out to an approved/high quality then you should be ok.

Many thanks

Hi Steve, thank you for the info. I will call David on Monday.

I got the pics ready now, so if you people could comment on how it looks from your perspective - your views will be very much appreciated.

Just called the insurance and they want to get my car and fix it themselves..? to which I said I was going to do it myself with an approved LR Garage. So I now I have to wait for them to get back to me within 72 hours and see what happens.

Here are the photos:

Here are the photos takes at scene, where one can clearly see how much has driver through me, from the middle of the drivers doors, ramming the side skirts and breaking the mirror and pushing slightly the RHS wheel. I tried to get away but the car in front blocked me from doing so.

Yes Vadim, there is one on the passenger side door which is the kerb side mirror, if he checked that mirror he would have seen you. There is also one at the front which is used to see obstructions at the front of the cab which the driver cannot see. TDV8 HST STORNOWAY ON A 58

BTW don't show your insurance any photos which show you driving in flip flops!

A friend of mine had his claim knocked back when the opposite side said he wasn't wearing suitable footwear to drive in. He was in flip flops! SDV6 HSE Sport2 - Santorini Black, Ebony Interior, Pano Roof, Things I haven't found yet!

hi Jed.w,
That's a great information, thank you. I was not driving in flip-flops, just went outside to take the photos, I will not make another bunch of photos for the insurance just in case. Thank you once again. Vadim A.
