Adaptive Headlights

Can anyone tell me if the latest adaptive headlights still go through the up/down left/right check when the lights are switched on?. My discovery used to do this but my new sport doesn't, they also don't seem to move with the steering very much, if at all, but the cornering lights come on OK, if anything quicker than the disco. I have mentioned it to the supplying garage and they don't seem very sure themselves. It's booked in for one or two other bits to be sorted on monday and would like to be able to clarify this when it goes in.
Thanks Shaun 12MY RRS Orkney Grey HSE Lux

I think you don't have ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM (AFS).

1. The Adaptive lights should go through the initialization process every time the headlights are switched on.
2. Only AFS lighting system has the functionality of the static bending lamp which you do not have.

Thanks for the reply Bobby, I rather hope I do have the adaptive system as I speced it when I ordered the car and paid the extra for it, also the garage that supplied the car seem to think it should be there but I feel, like you, that it should go through the initialization process when they are switched on. The garage informed me that they 'don't think' the latest system does this.

Well, I've not even seen a 2012MY RRS but I would think the adaptive headlights should function the same!! Wink

Good luck and I hope you get it sorted. Smile Malaysia Boleh!

My AB doesn't do the look left, down, right, up on startup (my old 06 HST did).

Thanks phil and everyone else, the garage checked the lights on monday and tell me they are working fine, I have now had more of a chance to try them myself and they do work but not as well as on my old disco and as phil says the don't go through the old calibration anymore, shame really I quite like that feature. 12MY RRS Orkney Grey HSE Lux

Noticed my 2010 model does not "appear" to have the adaptive headlights. Both the startup calibration and the obvious bending on tight turns that my 2008 model had.

Begs the question if you can't notice you have them, then is it worth actually having them!

Not an RRS but my Evoque has the AFS and it also doesn't do the headlight dance or recalibration like my RRS did. To tell that you have the AFS you should get an additional icon on the dash to on start up and when moving at less than 35mph and either use the indicator or turn the wheel the cornering spot light should come on in the direction you are turning. Something else I have noticed is that I get not vibration visible in the reflections from road signs at night like I used to with the RRS 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Tim - I'd forgotten about the vibrating lights on my old one - a major benefit on either having the new system or maybe not having them...
