Winter 20" Tyres & size - which one's?

Putting my 20's back on for the winter months and they need new tyres so may as well get winter tyres & change back over to my 22's next summer.

I've narrowed it down to either: Hankooks, Grabbers or VREDESTEIN? Have I missed any? Which is best foe winter, snow and ice? Also what size is best 255/50/R20 ?? Cheers Laurence.

Vredestein are meant to be a very good tyre i have them on my winter set but in 19" they can be used long after the bad weather has gone, i'd get them soon though before stocks run out like last year, Rolling Eyes

I'm going for a set of cooper zeon ltz's myself mate.

They're AT tyres and the way I consider it, ATs could be the best of the bunch.

I'm sure snow & ice could be better for snow and ice compared to AT's but I think the AT's are a better all rounder MY10 HSE 3.0 TDV6 : Santorini Black : Ebony Interior w/Anigre wood : Privacy Glass (total) : Sunroof : Sidesteps : Hybrid TV : Detachable Tow Kit : Spare Wheel Cover : 22" Dished Supersports

Strange thing is I've heard lots of people slag off conti tyres, but we ran em during the really heavy snow last year on the xc90 (cos they came on the vehicle), and we never had a murmur of an issue with them, they were spot on even in the deepest snow.

I'm not saying buy em, just that no one on here seems to like em Have i got the busted controller?!?!!?

In my experience, the contis only did 12k miles before they were shot, although like you I ran them last winter at about 5k old, and they were fine in the snow, but tramline and aquaplane heavily in the wet

I've got Vreds for my D3. Can't speak for the other brands but these were awesome last winter. Would never go back to using "normal" tyres over the winter. Gone: 10MY L320 RR Sport HSE, Ipanema Sand

Just found them at this site and for a good price by the looks of it! This size 275/40/r20 as recommended size in the RRS handbook for a 20" wheel

http://www.clickontyres.com/Vredestein/275...e_106_V_XL

BUT just spoken to my local tyre fitting guy and he tells me that Vredestein are NOT a good make!! They used to make re-moulds? He doesn’t rate them at all? I was just about to order them as well - now I'm not so sure? Big Cry Cheers Laurence.

Yeah, I agree.

Plenty of view on the interweb if you want to google...

Other:

And a huge amount of debate and opinion (ranging from well informed to bonkers) on the sister Disco3 forum... Gone: 10MY L320 RR Sport HSE, Ipanema Sand
