Splitting Rear Lights?

Currently awaiting a package from across the pond containing clear reflector lenses to replace the orange ones in the front lights. Cool Having done this years back on a X5 i know it to be quite an easy process.

I was wondering if anyone had 'split' a set of rear lights to remove and replace the orange indicator reflectors with clear/smoked ones? I realise it would be much easier to just buy some 09 updated ones but enjoy the satisfaction of a 'DIY' solution!! Range Rover Sport HSE and for a bit of weekend fun a S1 Lotus Elise with a few track biased additions!

I have a spare set of them sitting about my house, may give it a go. Surely the same principle as the headlights

Read somewhere that you can't bake them the same way as the headlights. Apparently they can't withstand the same temperatures? I used a heat gun on low setting working round the lights last time I split a set o
open, they wouldn't fit in my oven! So guessing that might be a better option

Wondering what to replace the orange reflectors with just wondered if anyone had tried before, saves me bu**ering up a set of lights!! Range Rover Sport HSE and for a bit of weekend fun a S1 Lotus Elise with a few track biased additions!

Follow the thread below;

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic22760....ear+lights

Ordered the reflectors from America for around £70, the headlights are apparently simple to split. Will find instructions and post but basically bake them in the oven for 20 mins then prise open the casing. If your quick you can simply remove the orange reflector and put the clear/smoked one in and put the casing back together. I think I'd re soften the seal with a heat gun on low heat.

Was a piece of Censored on my old X5, hopefully I'll take delivery of mine soon and can put up instructions (if I ever figure out how to post pics from an iPhone!!) Range Rover Sport HSE and for a bit of weekend fun a S1 Lotus Elise with a few track biased additions!

Bringing this thread back from the dead.

Has anyone managed to remove the orange inserts from the rear lights? How do you go about doing it? Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi
