I had my bonet done on my Z at the weekend, stage 1 correction, a couple of passes, and then no polish and Swissvax ....came to £125, and that was 2.5 hours......I would expect to pay £600 to get my car back to as new look again....

I have to laugh when people actually consider sending a car to get paint correctiob on a Range Rover of all things for £100 it is pure madness. price is one warning if its cheap its cheap for a reason. In truth IF they are insured then it works out at about £20 per vehicle. then heat light products machinery etc etc. will total say £30

so in actual fact they will be making £50 for doing your car that equates to between 2-4 hour MAXIMUM. would you do a full day for £100 even not me thats for sure. it costs a minimum of £200 a day for a reputible business to even break even when detailing but there are plenty out there coining in on it as well. If you want it detailed put your hand in your pocket and pay for it dont mess about or unfortunitly as the saying goes pay cheap pay twice. I would say 1/4 of my business is fixing cars that have been hacked by other "detailers" I have just had an audi a6 allroad detailed by a guy he removed over half the paint and nearly all of the clear coat plus he burnt through a plastic arch and I had to repaint it was a costly lesson thats for sure. to be honest if it was £100 then it will be no better than a valet and if you want more I feel that it is unfair of you to chase it to be honest.

to give you an idea of what detailing is. an enhancement consists of
Wash stage and decontamination 2-4 hours.

Single stage machine polish and application of wax or other final coating 2-3 hours

Interior clean dress of plastics and glass, engine bay dressed and wheel arches dressed 1-2 hours.

approx 8 hours and £250+ that is a mimimum you need to be looking at any less and the guy is not putting the hours in .

we have had cars that have had up to 200 hours spent in returning them to pristine condition.

I know Iain and he is a decent guy who does an amazing job check out Detailing World as well for others in your area!

Great Post Ronnie Wink

I have said the same thing (not here) many times before.... Out of the jobs that we don't get its mainly on price with potential customers saying so and so quoted me £150 less than you... I often say make sure you do your due diligence. Take a look at the work in their portfolio, find out a bit of history how long have they been detailing, call previous customers... This is an expensive range rover your getting detailed after all..!

I know if there was enough interest I would be happy to open Zaino's doors on a Saturday or Sunday to do some demos and help people with any problems they may have with regards to Detailing. We have coffee and I may even be able to break the bbq out for some sausages and bacon sarnies too!

Maybe you should come over as well Ronnie!!

hey Johnny.

Would love to come over. Over the last year we are seeing more cars come to us that we quoted 4-8 months previously and it is obvious work has been done in the mean time. To be honest whether it is a Range Rover or a Ka its the same to us as to be honest to respray them...

as you see on DW it is the new in thing and a quick way to make a few quid mind u. as you say due diligence as a high price is not a guarantee. I have seen work from several of the top detailers (as they quote) one who is a franchise of a very high end brand and the work he pumps out is terrible. I had a chat with him about 2 years ago and he had never used any sort of machine polisher or anything other than rubbing compound prior to going on the training course so as said check work see jobs look at previous details and most of all have a realistic expectation of what can be done in the time they quote and the price they charge.

Another good indicator is what they advise you. ie if its a weekender which is badly marked then full correction is a viable option.

if its a daily, or your lifestyle makes for marking the vehicle ie live in the county down a lane or on a farm or in towns and park on the street or car parks and you intend on keeping it for a few years, then a lesser correction level is more advisable and probably a maintenance plan so saving paint and keeping a good overall level of finish. If the detailer does not care how you use the vehicle or what your budget/expectation level is, then they are not going to finish the car to a level that suits your needs. Remember once they remove the paint they cant put it back on!!!

Totally agree with you guys......I got a new car detail when I bought it, will get a detail once a year, but the 6 weekly is £100 worth.....and I dont expect a full detail for that, it is just a top up and a very good valet.

Finerdetails definitely recommended for north west

Errr no not really, craig came out with a guy to completely re-do my car, i didn't know anyone still used a sponge to wash a car for starters, craig their principle valeter still does Shocked bare in mind this is supposed to be a professional company Whistle anyway craig set about cleaning my car inside and out and the guy he brought with him had been brought along to give him a hand but mainly for him to try and polish out the machine polish marks left by tony johnson, however upon inspection he refused to touch my paintwork with a machine polisher because the marks were so bad Mr. Green craig then maintained that this wasn't ultimate car cares problem but tony johnson's problem even though i booked my appointment on ultimate car care's website and it was them that contacted tony johnson to come and do my car (passing the book) both craig and his associate say my car now requires a paint correction but neither of them are prepared to pay for it hence why it is now in the hands of my solicitor with photos of before and after along with all phone calls logged between all parties, karen from ultimate car care said she would e-mail me full details of tony johnson's company last thursday, as yet i still havn't received them, i am shocked that a so called professional company can allow someone else to blacken its name in this way and not take responsibilty for their actions, i have given them the chance to correct my paintwork which will cost a mere £??? but no, they see this as admitting liability. So the legel route it is. SO I ADVISE ANYONE IF YOU USE THIS COMPANY AFTER READING THIS, YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK, THEY REALLY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.
