All set on a TDV6 until i came on here

So was planning on getting the TDV6 2.7, until i started picking up on a few of use mentioning its lacking abit of balls, when i read its was a no go for overtaking i was gutted. I can imagine it would be one of those things if you settled for the V6 you'd always have that nagging feeling telling you, you should of got the V8 3.6.

Havent got a massive budget either so it makes it worst looking on sites and seeing most of the TDV8 are way out of my price range. Have seen a few though. Was originally planning on spending about 18k, i know its not much but its what iv got so...But iv seen some TDV8's for about 23k, early models like 06/ maybe a 07 if im lucky. Probably get the price down abit on the day maybe.

Not sure really what im asking use but what do use think, i really don't think i want to settle and go for the TDV6, no doubt it will be amazing car but i need that power i think. What price am i looking at realistically for the TDV8 3.6 06/07 model, am i best of going to a dealer or private.

Any help is appreciated

Jim

Hiya jim, welcome to the site, 3.6 V8's came out on a 07 plate so you won't get an 06, if you drive both you will definately want the V8 but you will be very very lucky to get one anywhere near your budget, ive got a V6 2.7 but its been remapped and its no slouch, so i would advise getting it remapped if you go for the V6 which is within your budget, enjoy the forum Thumbs Up

I have a TDV6 and it is fine, I put me foot down and it goes with gusto.

There are a hell of a lot of 2.7ltr engines running about in RR Sports and Landrover discoveries. I had a D3 before this and I cant tell the difference at all. If you want a bit of extra grunt then just slip it into command shift and drop it down a cog to overtake.

If you want it to push your spine into the back of the seat and draw your lips back over your teeth due to the sudden change in speed then go and buy a ferrari, if you want a big sexy good looking motor with an outstanding driving position and the comfort of your favorite old armchair then your in the right place old boy. 2017 Range Rover Sport Autobiography

Only way too find out is go and try one for you self. RR is not meant too go like a ferrari and most will find the 2.7 enough for how they drive. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

Should not be a problem getting a test drive I got my 1st UK RRS last year when I was 21 with no probz.

I have the 2.7 and will probaly be getting the V8 next, if its performance you want why not get the supercharged petrol? I use to have one but not in the UK and there amazing.

if you've never driven the 3.6TDV8 then you can probably live with the 2.7TDV6. Same goes for the 3.0TDV6.

just don't ever drive the 3.6TDV8 Whistle Whistle Whistle Whistle Whistle ============

I toyed with the idea of getting a 2.7 and then chipping it. In the end, having driven the 3.6, I got the TDV8. It's wonderful! Thumbs Up

Now, of course, I'm wondering about chipping the TDV8... Shocked Very Happy 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

no chance on the supercharged, id need a mortage to pay for the petrol with that, plus i don't even think id be able to get insurance for it. The insurance i got quoted for a V6 was costing about £2800. The fact that the tdv6 and v8 are similar on MPG, is making me sway more towards the V8. Do use know if there in the same insurance group or do you think the V8 maybe slightly higher.

Part of me is saying go with the v6 and be responsible with the money and not get to ahead of yourself, the other part is saying f Censored k it you only live once, i wont be upgrading any time soon so il have it for a good few years. Just dont want to get the feeling iv made the wrong decision if i buy the v6, and part of me always saying you should of got the V8.

Is it possible getting a TDV8 for around £21k, if i wait and search for that bargain or is it just not feasible.
