Do you mean by the one piece boot, that it's not a split tailgate?

What's the logic in that?? Apart from possibly cheaper machining costs. The great thing ref split tailgates is that you can leave a couple of dogs (in my case) in the back with the upper gate open which they think is wonderful. Well, I think they think it's wonderful!
I take my two springers into work, and for an hour or so, leave them in the back with the upper gate open, bit of sun and fresh air circulating around, couldn't do that with a one piece tailgate.

Peanutbob, I believe they did away with the split tailgate in favour of making it fully powered openeing & closing! Personally I agree with you that the split is really useful and it is a backward step to go to a one piece unit Confused 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Just means that if you are using the motorised function it will take forever to open & close your boot

........and as the catch/handle for the upper tailgate won't get waterlogged/rusty (because it isn't there) then the battery won't drain and another cost saving. Thumbs Up

Would have been to easy to offer it as an option of course. Bad move in my opinion for all the reasons above and more. Oh well, that's progress for you. Wink

And what about wives that go shopping? Imagine a footballers wife going to the Trafford Centre, comes out in the rain, normally opens the top gate, chucks everything in, and gets in the car. Now, she has to wait whilst the tailgate electronically opens, puts the Armani stuff in..Pug does a runner...then has to wait whilst the gate slowly closes (in case someone nicks the stuff) and then gets in the car with hairdo ruined!
Slightly extreme, but it does mean waiting outside for the gate to lift and close.
