Off Road tyres

I will soon receive some 18" wheels for my RRS

As they will be mostly(I would say strictly) used off road for fun I would like to install some off road oriented tyres.

I was looking at the following

Goodyear new MT/R(if/when available again)

Cooper ST or STT

Hankook Dynapro MT(if I can find them) heard some good about them

Size wise they are available only in a slightly taller size, 275/65 18, but that should not be a problem, especially with the LLAMS module

You guys have any idea/suggestion/experience?

Thank you '08 RRS TDV8

Yes it is a TDV8 and it has Brembo brakes, but the wheels are the Compomotive P1880, so they will fit Wink '08 RRS TDV8

Flydive Very Happy ,

I have also ordered a set of five PD1880 in black and should receive them soon Thumbs Up Thumbs Up They were sold out and Compomotive did a new batch at the end of August.

Looks as if they'll organsie a bulk shipment to Switzerland...

My plan is to fit the new General Grabber ATs, since Goodyear has no plans continuing their previous MT/R in 19 or 18 inch size. Their new Kevlar MT/R will only be available in 16 inch or smaller. SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE BUG AND SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE WINDSHIELD

Yes, getting them from the same batch, ordered them together with a D4 owner here in Ticino, too bad we did not know about you, we could have saved a couple of GBP

I have the same size in the Maxxis Bighorns for my off-road wheels. The size is quite a fair bit taller than the std tyre and requires more than just a LLAMS module or shortened HS rods to use effectively. Essentially you have to:

* cut back the inside of the lower front lip to stop the front tyre hitting it when turning
* cut out and discard the front half of the rear wheel-well liner
* bend back the metal seam that will now be exposed in the rear wheel-well

You'll still get slight rubbing at full articulation (even at +50mm) and the occasional suspension fault that will require cycling the ignition.

Thanks for the info Gordon, looks a bit of work, not sure I want to go all that way, I will not be off roading often, just few days of fun from time to time.
I might have to go for a less off road tyre with closer size to the standard.

Too bad. '08 RRS TDV8

Yokohama's AT/S comes in a 275/60R18 and is pretty aggressive for an AT tyre. Cooper's new AT3 is close to a muddy as well, and they're releasing a few new sizes in 18" in the coming months. The current Cooper Zeon LTZ (in 285/60R18) is also worth considering.

Cheers,
