Actually thinking back it was early June. Mainly because of the positve remarks about LPR here on the site that I've been reading for a good year. Same group but they turned out to be useless. If you think that is bad try buying a motorhome where the dealers are even fewer with greater distances between them! I spent £75k on a four berth fiat kon-tiki back in 2008 and you'd think it was a secondhand fiesta. Over the winter of 2010/11 we decided it was time to move on after three years of ownership and many happy travels so I start sounding out LR dealers and planned a mega trip in the 'van for Easter. Unfortunately I missed out on TDV8 production and decided on an A/B from Riders in Truro. The Japan earthquake kicked off about halfway through our tour and by the time we got back Bali Blue was no longer available. . So a wait and a rethink whilst we sold the van. Started thinking about approved used and noticed several on LR website were ex-LR cars. Drew up a list of what I really wanted and when then Emailed it to James at LPR on 2nd July. Subsequent call from Matt to set up a plan. I told him we were off to Dubai for a couple of weeks at the end of July and upon return I would be ready to buy. I'd put my number plate on retention upon return and would like to trade in my Skoda Octavia L&K Estate for 10k. This was book price but it was worth a lot more than that due to extras etc. I just wanted to do that because I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of a sale and expected to add around £40k in cash to it. Matt agreed to look at the closed auctions to see what was about and when and we could discuss nearer the time. He finished by saying he would Email his contact details to me. Email doesn't arrive so I Email James again confirming conversation with Matt and a request for his Contact Email as promised. Still doesn't arrive. I ring the day before we go to Dubai, he's busy but will ring back. He doesn't and still no Email. Great holiday and I telephone again about the 5th/6th August to get update and confirm putting plate on retention. Busy again but will call back. Doesn't. I call back about a week later and repeat the whole thing. Nothing. I know there have been closed Land Rover auctions and find it difficult to believe that no Bali Blue or Green TDV8's have gone through. So I refer to my later comment. On the whole I've found Lookers to be a bit of a let down. VA I thought I might get a pm as well, but no. Hey ho. Winge over. I am greatful to LPR for all the comments read here over the months and that a lot of you are really happy with them. You can't keep everybody happy all of the time and I guess I'm the one that just got forgotten about (or put off by a Skoda )! Richard Edited to add my name Doh! Richard, Opps! No excuse at all, 1000 apologies. I get quite a few enquiries via the forum and have to entrust Matthew & Jeremy to look after a large proportion of them. It does ring a bell but I'm sure Matthew will have the info. No Bali or Tonga RRS HSE in the last couple of closed auctions, and only silver (and 1 black) in Land Rovers used car pool as of today. Matt is away until next week, but if you could send me your contact details again then I'll do all I can to assist. We do try to be as attentive as possible, but clearly we've not delivered that ideal this time. Drop me a line James |

Lookers Chelmsford gave me the most appalling service I have ever received at anytime in my life. In contrast Lookers Bishops Stortford are beyond excellent |

I went to Chelmsford a couple of weeks ago, I had a cl65 and I was interested in a 2010 Disco 4, kept me waIting 10 mins, reluctantly showed me around the car and then told me they could not give me a price on part ex. I walked off deflated, no effort to talk or offer advice. Worse sales I have ever come across. They did not seem bothered at all |

The new excuse for poor customer service will be " oh we were too busy reading the internet forums to see what you might be writing about us to have time to sell you a car"
