It's completely up to yourself if you want to take out insurance for the day. I have had many track days and I've always had insurance, it's not cheap for one day, but the ins. co do not know your level of skill, the weather, etc. etc. Some years, I made sure it was part of my policy (pace ward offer this) All circuits in the UK do not charge you if you hit the barrier, but at the Nurburgring if you hit a barrier you get stung with a bill for the time taken to close the track (lost earnings) and the cost of recovery from the circuit, as well as the cost to repair any barrier damage you cause If you have the type of car, that lends itself to circuit work, trackdays are a great way of seeing what you and your car are capable of. I learnt more on one trackday in one of my cars than I ever did on the road due to the high speed cornering capability of the car (which you could not get any where near on the road safely). Cheers, Andy |
