I have also gone from the e46 M3 (albeit via the twin-turbo X6 when it came out as we wanted load space but it didn't last long!) to the RRS. The RRS was something Iwe'dlooked at for a while and took the plunge after getting rid of the X6.

Absolutely love it and can't see myself changing our 'big car' brand for a long time now. Like mrfixit says above, don't necessarily be put off the 2.7 though if speed isn't a prime requirement, which it really isn't with the RRS' weight, but coming from the M3 you're going to know that....I certainly did, but it doesn't bother me at all. In truth it's quite a nice change from the M3 driving style you adopt! You find yourself in not so much of a rush to get places.

Re. servicing - I agree with Gilford and its nothing compared to BMW, and you'll notice a real (big) difference compared to the M3, akthogh that will depend on which RRS you go for in the end.

I think most of the guys on here would also say to try and go through a dealer if possible, but its not the be all and end all.

Whatever you end up doing, good luck and happy RRS hunting....you'll not regret it. Thumbs Up

There was nothing really wrong with it Chris, but my wife had a real scare in it the week after we got it when somebody bumped her and she was never really happy or comfortable driving it again, so just bit the bullet and got rid.

I had hankered a RRS when we bought the X6 but stuck with the BMW at the time as the deal we got on the X6 brand new was incredible.

The X6 was a great drive and perfomance, but I have to say the RRS is my favourite, and the Mrs loves driving it as well so everyone's happy! Thumbs Up

Great replies.
Thank you.
If i was to buy a 2.7 or 3.0 rrs are there upgrades to get rid of the yellow egg light look?
I really need to test drive a few and see what suits me best. Please state which versions you all have and what upgrades you have ie: tv, sunroof etc

If you are coming from an Audi diesel estate the 2.7 would be fine but listen to a man who has just done it, coming from the M3 you will be bored in 2 seconds with the it Sad

I borrowed a colleagues 2.7 for the weekend and wrote off the RRS as an option because it wallowed round the corners and I didn't feel safe overtaking (55plate). I had set my mind on a new X5. I then was lucky enough to find a garage locally who had the X5 d M Sport and a HST in stock so drove them back to back, you know which one I went for Thumbs Up

Hi gilford. What kind of mpg are you doing? And is the insurance an improvement?

I'm getting 24mpg on A roads as long as the journey isn't less than 15 mins!

when cold they burn the diesel

Oh and mine's mapped too... I came from a 360bhp Impreza and I've never looked back Thumbs Up

Edited to add:

The 2.7 really isn't that bad... my 2.7 TDV6 D3 was mapped ( a must with that engine imho) and it was good for 28mpg and would push along nicely when you asked it to.... RRS gone
Audi SQ5...Gone Audi Q7 S-Line 240 3.0TDI Gone
Audi A6 Allroad Sport 270 3.0TDI

My 2.7 ive got is re-mapped, and really needs to be, not just for speed but for how it delivers the power, it picks up so much better and feels so much smoother, but my next one will be the new 3.0 SD V6, Like you say you really need to take a test drive, if you have always had sports cars, it takes some getting out of your system but you will definitely enjoy the ride of the RRS. If you don't like the RRS experience then at least you can cross it off your car list. Thumbs Up

Mine is remapped, and I mostly do B road driving and I average just under 23mpg which is good. If I reset the computer and blast it around for a few days that goes to 16mpg but I dont do that all the time Laughing

Range on a tank is nearly 400 miles and it does do that so I'm happy Very Happy

Insurance is very cheap for me, I actually got a couple of hundred quid back when I switched from the E92 M3 Shocked

I'm hoping to be paying around £600 come renewal in July, I'm 33 and live in the sticks Sheep Mr. Green

Bottom line then when buying a 2.7 is to remap it? How much does that cost and whats the extra bhp?..15-20?
