One of the reasons I am holding onto my car is the fact that it is a 2005 car and therefore not eligible for the higher tax bands. Just taxed the car and it has cost me £260 Whistle

But you also have the Swiss salaries to pay with, when I am in Geneva I cannot believe the prices of everything, just glad I can charge almost everything to my clients. My colleagues are all on massive salaries (compared to the UK) and most of them live over the border in France to enjoy the lower cost of living. Apparently the associated costs in the Swiss border area are 15% more than the rest of France (except Paris), but still worthwhile compared to the local taxes within the canton of Geneva.

It's a case of swings and roundabouts here... Confused

Road tax is a joke, especially when you look at the state of our roads across the whole of the uk, then take into account the fact that the revenue created by road tax is not entirely invested back into the transport network.
