United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Bonatti Grey
Brake Pad Warning Light

Hello and please help! Sad

My 2006 TDV6 HSE was taken to a trusted independent garage I have used for years now to have new pads fitted as the warning light had come on on the dash - (i) type symbol

The rear pads were the culprits, a new sensor was fitted and I drove away £120 lighter however a happy man and probably £150 better off than a main dealer customer (HOWEVER...)

2 months later the light came on (ping) went off, then on again (pinging each time) and then varying from every 20seconds to 5 minutes to not at all on some days... But it came on and off for about 2 weeks until one day it didn't do it, it turned into (1 week later) the (i) brake pad symbol which was on continuously, and check brake pads symbol was displayed on the info display etc.

I have taken it to the garage, they have checked the pads, these are fine both front and rear, replaced both sensors and tried an independent electrical guy for advice on what the hell to do... But to no avail!! Shocked

Any ideas and suggestions would be extremely welcome!! Thumbs Up

Thanks in advance peeps From P reg Astra to 06 RRS HSE - 60 second makeover? Smile

Sounds like a wiring fault, maybe check all the connections under the wheel arches for damaged/rubbing or corroded wires?

Thanks for the reply, do I need to do anything other than raise the suspension and inspect?

What is it I'm looking for the wires between the brakes and the sensors etc?

Might have to take it to a Main Dealer just don't wanna spend £1000's on a fiddly little wire Sad

Thanks again From P reg Astra to 06 RRS HSE - 60 second makeover? Smile

The connectors can be a struggle to undo - check that the upstream connector is still sound and the wires have not been disturbed in the swap over - sensor is rear right from memory (& front left) but you can see it anyway. The sensor closes a circuit until worn 'open' IIRC....
