well the o/s turbo has packed in, loads of smoke no power and no oil in the sump,
so before i changed the turbo i did some investigating, it seems that the oil feed pipe has to be changed at the same time
it seems like there is a oil feed problem ? also i found the oil cooler in the o/s wing blocked with mud, i dont think this helped ? Anyway land rover say you take the body off to get to the turbo, but i,v managed to get it in no problem, i am fitting the new pipe tommorow that looks a real bitch, the car is 2007, v8 diesel with 80k full dealer history,i am not impresed, any help very welcome. r green

The oil feed pipe is common to both turbos as you can see in the picture

The cooler in the RH wheelarch is an additional water radiator not an oil cooler.

The water cooled oil cooler is part of the oil filter housing on top of the engine IIRC.

Hope this helps and good luck.

No I haven't heard of a problem with oil feed to the turbos.
I have heard that the variable inlet guide vanes seize or hoses splits lead to overfueling and lots of black smoke. Do you know what failed in your turbo?

engine failure

hi bob, yes the turbo was scrap but thats not all after changing the turbo and oil feed pipe when i started it up its breathing very badly and blowing oil out of every orifice, sounds like a piston has let go ? You havent got an engine lying about by any chance. r green
