Hi Guys
Really sorry but I still cant grasp this, can anybody explain the difference between these chip kits, as I have mentioned they are on Ebay starting around £100, are these ones any good, and what difference does the chip do to the MPG
Thanks again
Ray

My limited knowledge tells me a cheap eBay £100 jibbie will plug in and fool the car thinking it's need to give more fuel by the way of a cheap resistor

The unit which cost more, such as the BAS or Alive tuning boxes are plugged in via the ocb port and actuall change the cars configuration, basically remapping the way the car delivers power via the ECU

Ones more expensive as it been tried and tested on cars onthe road or rolling roads ones cheap and fools the car with little no testing

The choice is yours to how much you wish to risk your £5k+ engine by putting Censored On to the end of some lead or by putting a less risky ecu remap on, I'm not saying just use the two remaps as they sponsor the forum, there are other companies out there, but I believe these two offer you the after Market support too if you require it

A £100 chip is essentially a plug and play gamble with your engine. This could cause your car to run wrong.

A reputable chip from the likes of BAS etc whilst more exspensive are designed and mapped to your car, these chips are tried, tested and developed on these vehicles. Once the software is installed it is then tweaked to suit your car to ensure the best possible results.

You have to bear in mind that when you go down this route you are altering the way the car is fuelled and the mixture ratios etc, which if done wrong can lead to serious problems.

They say It depends on wether you like using the extra power provided Twisted Evil

Some report the same mpg, but a smoother drive, others report a slight gain with a smoother ride

Often remap company's show gains in torque and bhp, not mpg as each car is different, each driver is different, so I think all the claims of gains in mpg should be taken with a pinch of salt

.....or put another way, one will work with your engine and within its capabilities, the other won't and will invoke intrusion into your wallet for a shiny new one...........I know which one I would be investing in.

A £100 piece of s Censored t that somebody put together with Maplin parts for 50p or a tried and tested map that is software controlled and within engine tolerances. Why people would consider putting an Ebay item of this ilk onto what was a £60k car is beggars belief. Rolling Eyes L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

You need to use the likes of Bell Autos or J E Engineering. Get the job done properly.

I agree and sorry if this upsets some people on here but I can never understand why soman people on here come on wanting cheap this and cheap that and looking for cheap stuff on eBay, scrimping on servicing etc...

These are Range Rovers...they are not cheap cars, nor can you run them for the same cost as a Suzuki Vitara. Why buy one if you can't afford to run it or do decent stuff to it which it is worth off....

A prestige car deserves some respect..next you'll be telling me you take it to an auto wash at the local Esso!!

Ray not directing this at you....but I hear so many people on here asking crazy questions about products for their cars...
