Problem with LR specialist supplied side steps......

Following on from my other thread, this problem is getting worse sadly Sad

Every time it rains I get the White marks on the alu part of the side steps and nothing is going to get it off Crying or Very sad

I've tried most things, but don't want to do too much as it may make it worse.

I have e mailed the company yesterday but have had no reply. The steps have only been fitted 8 weeks and only covered max 200 miles, not much of that in the rain! The car has been undercover in my warehouse for most of that time also.

I'm annoyed I didn't go OEM with these now, but was told by this company that these were as good as OEM, looks wise I agree but build quality I'm not so sure..............

I may just have a dodgy set, but this is unacceptable.

What do you think my course of action should be? Fight for a full refund or a replacement set? It has left a very bad taste in my mouth I can tell you Confused

Ideas gents?,

How did you pay for them?
If with Visa and they won't reply give them a 7 day email and raise a dispute with your CC supplier if they don't respond.
Clearly not of merchantable quality by the sounds of it,next time don't be so tight and get the pukka jobs Thumbs Up MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Might sound silly but you could try a clear film over them similar to that of a wrap material, other than that it will be fairly impossible to protect against.

As soon as you get them and before they are fitted, have them clear laquered by a body shop or yourelf if you feel brave. Mine look like #%t. Gonna rube them back with wet and dry then laquer them.

I'm not going to that extent! I dont mind rubbing a bit of wax on them but I'm not going to such stretches where I have to pay out sizeable amounts of cash Shocked

If they fail again I will send them back again, simples Cool

Not much cost. Try some alubrite metal cleaner and a can of laquer from Halfrauds. Just make sure you mask it 1st. Only cost about £10 total and 30 mins max.
