Delayed acceleration problem

Just bought a 58hse2.7 and have noticed that when I put my foot down there seems to be a delay before the power kicks in, what could it be? Also noticed a bit of condensation in the car, any ideas?

The delay could be due to a faulty EGR Valve or Valves. Dealer can identify this from error codes.
It's a common problem, Not just on RRS but on many deisel cars.

As for the condensation inside the car, have you checked all the carpets for damp spots. Maybe you have a leaky window seal or something. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

i dont know if this is out of turn ............but, they all do that dont they? lazy auto combined with turbo lag on a diesel will result in the car having a 1 or 2 second delay until it is "on cam"
cheers

Condensation inside the car could also be if you have not been leaving the climate control on all the time - it has a dehumidifying benefit. If you have a sunroof, are the drains clear? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

They all do it in Drive and to a lesser extent in Sport but not at all in Command Shift - it is not turbo lag as it does not happen in Command Shift.

It is the programming of the gearbox.

When in Drive and you slow down to go around a roundabout or even to stop at a light the gearbox changes down but usually only as far as 3rd gear. If you come to a stop it will change down to 1. If you are slowing down (maybe 20kph) but the light changes to green or there is a break in the traffic and you then put your foot down the gearbox will be in 3 (maybe 2) - too high a gear and the gearbox ECU has a hissy fit no knowing whether the change down or stay where it is, so it does nothing (on a box with cable kickdown, kickdown would happen) but as the engine revs starts to rise the gearbox then decides kickdown is required and off you go - if the gearbox oil has not been changed in a while the change down might happen with a thud. It the electronic kickdown process that is the cause - noting it is less of an issue in Sport mode and no issue in command shift Mode as you are forcing the box to be in the correct gear all the time.

Software updates fixed this issue on mine. I used to have to use sport mode for roundabouts but now it is fine. The update was done a couple of years ago. TDV6, MYO7 Java with Ivory leather, 19 inch wheels

My very new MY11 TDV6 has just come back from 7 days in the hands of the dealer, being driven by a staffer, to try and replicate a problem I was having. I had many instances of a 2-3 second delay in acceleration, usually after approaching an intersection and then attempting to, reasonably, accelerate through it. Worst time I was doing a right hand turn, slowly entered the intersection, waited for approaching traffic to clear, foot down, then further down to the floor, engine just idled, by which time more oncomings were approaching, then suddenly off we went at full acceleration into the face of the traffic. That was a 5 second delay!

Then got lots of dash warnings, HDC, Park brake error, emergency brake assist unavailable etc

I drove straight to the dealer and booked it in for service a week later. Had a Freelander loan for 2 days then a D4 for the rest of the time.

Claimed fault was the brake light switch. Apparently LR spec is that it must activate with between 5-8mm of down travel and mine was happening at 3mm. This was referred to as a hair trigger switch. As an aside, if you sit stationery, rev the engine to say 2500RPM then press the brake you will notice the computer drops the revs back to idle. So could a faulty brake switch have caused my fault was the question.
After consulting LR UK they tried 2 new brake switches to no avail and were advised to ADJUST Confused the switch bracket which has now set the travel to 6mm.

They also found a a bit of damage from this jaunt - damaged
CV cover and fuel tank pushed up from a bellying.

Got it back yesterday and and so far seems OK except it now has a severe vibration accelerating through 95-120km/hr.

Back to the dealer in a few weeks to fix those and replace the steering wheel that was meant to be heated but wasn't.

I still love the car BUT............ Now :3.0 TDV6, Stornoway grey, Premium Almond leather,Dynamic Pack , Paddle shifters, Rear Electronic Diff, Surround Camera System, Park Distance Control - Front, Tow Pack, 19 x 9" 5 V-Spoke wheels, Memory Pack, Cold Climate Pack, Carpet Mat Set, Roof rails, general Grabber ATs,

Ordered, due May 17 SDV6 Dynamic Loire Blue, Ivory, Drive Pro pack, Sliding roof, Heated seats and steering wheel, Surround cameras, Tow pack with Advanced Tow Assist, Meridian 825w sound,
