I don't have the Nano - one of the 30Gb jobs from a couple of years ago, but mine only does that "do not disconnect" thing when the PC has the iPod's disk mounted or there's a synch going on from iTunes. It reverts to "OK to disconnect" and a big tick on the screen at other times when it's just sitting in the cradle.

Yeah, you don't want to get involved with rebuilding your iPod. That happened to me when I was a new user, but the new version of the iPod Updater and a new version of iTunes sorted out all that for me. If you often do disconnect when it says not to, you are in for a world of pain in my experience.

Well.......................... I have uninstalled and re-installed everything, downloaded the latest software update and now everything is fine! If you are using an Apple iPod then there is a new software upgrade no 2006-23-04 or something like that but beware that if you upgrade the ipod's software as well as iTunes software then whatever is saved on the player will be lost when you download the new player software. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

VA, don't know what the upgrade does! The clickwheel on mine has a hold switch on the top of the body that locks the click wheel anyway. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

What happens is the reverse action occurs - phone apple support, the upgrade is a UK upgrade only not for ipods from overseas they have clickwheels that go the opposite direction, unless they are from Japan, Australia and other countries that drive on the Left, it's all to do with using the ipod whilst driving, eu regs etc. . 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
