Hi there,

I'm new to this forum. Having been involved before in forums for my previous car (MINI Cooper S - mini2.com) - I'd thought I'd ask some advice from you guys.

Here's my current situation... I have a short term lease on a VW Golf GT TDI which I keep renewing every 28 days whilst I'm looking for a new car. I've been offered a very good deal from a leasing company on a new Range Rover Sport TDV6 S model, pretty much the same price I'm paying for the Golf. Having driven the HSE spec in the past I wanted to find out if the S is worthwhile having?

If anyones got one and can point me in the directions of some pictures (especially of the interior) I would appreciate it.

I would agree with VA, if you can stretch to an SE then you will get so much more. BTW I wouldn't spec an S up too much either as at the end of the day it will still only be an S with a heap of extras all of which will get nothing back at change time.

I have a basic SE (apart from optional alloys and tow pack) and it has all the toys necessary to make it a very nice car. The factroy fit SatNav would have been nice but I can live with an Indago/Tom-Tom type which costs a lot less than the LR one as an optional extra and you can transfer it from car to car which you cannot do with the built in one! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

It is very nice - the seat facings (ie the bits that get heavy wear) are leather. It is the squab sides and backs (ie the bit that rear seat passengers see!)that are fabric or mock leather and they are very comfortable too. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim, do you have a pic of your dash ? Would like to see how it looks like without the SatNav, more space? Thx (your Indago mod looks clean BTW) RRS HSE, Buckingham Blue , Ivory/Aspen Interior, Luxury Package (Cherry Wood, Cooler Box, etc...), RSE, SIRIUS, PTI, Tasmod Sill Plates

Definitely avoid S!

Looks awful on 17" wheels. Cloth seats in a RR is a big no-no! Leather is a must have.

Tim's right the LR nav is superb but hand helds are so good these days (Just ask Tim!) and you can take it with you.

SE gets 18" same design as HSE but I still think looks best on 20's.

Spend a bit more.

Agree with all above... but I suppose it depends what you want out of a car. It's still an RRS at the end of the day, so you'll still get the great cabin layout, excellent ride and buckets of space that the other models have. But if you want toys, the S really isn't up to the game. If you can't at least stretch to the SE, go with something else.

Isma the only difference is I have a shelf with a rubber mat in the middle of the top of the dash where the Sat Nav would have been. BTW I put the Indago in the gap on some Velcro now as I get better reception there than in the cupholder.

Thanks for all your advice. I've managed to get a deal of just £50 a month more on lease on the SE model so that looks like the one!

How much are you paying to lease one of these RRS' Jason, if you don't mind me asking..?
If its comparable to a golf gti, then you either were paying too much for the golf, or are getting a cracking deal on the RRS.. i reckon its the latter from what you are saying..
