Paint Protection Systems - are they worth the cost?

Diamonbrite, Toughseal, Supaguard etc, etc - there's loads of different types available. Dealer wants to charge me approx £300.00 to have my RRS done inside and out - but is it worth it? Have you had it done?, Did it make any difference or should I just stick to a regular cleaning routine (Meguiars etc)?

This is something which RRUK has posted on before.

His view was that the one he has fitted (Supaguard I think) is great for dirt repelling and water beading but was unsure it was worth the £££ you will be cahrged.

RRUK is an obsessive cleaner of his car and so his view seemed to be invest in good quality Meguiars kit and do it yourself.

I'm a lazy git who pays some local skivvies to hand clean mine.

My advice would be to try Babes'n'Bubbles. Looks like a quality establishment! Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

If you like the idea but not the cost, buy yourself a Diamondbrite kit off ebay.
About £12 for the paintwork, it's pretty good stuff, or if you like perfection try www.zaino.com.

Search on eBay. You can buy these two-part paint treatments for £5-£10. I've just brought a DiamondBrite kit for £26 delivered. Just got to wait from a dry weekend now so I can treat the new D3. Matt

Luckily for me my Diamondbrite bottles came free from my dealer, I applied them (there is no special way to do it really) and it seems to be working well. However, on their website they recommend that you use a special conditioning wash every month to keep it going. I'll not be doing that.

Actually (This will make you laugh) after I applied the Diamondbrite I also did a coat of Meguiars NXT Wax ontop, just to keep it even cleaner! Laughing

You won't get more for your car if you pay £300 at the beginnig for it, but in my experience, when your car looks nice, clean, immaculately presented upon sale or PX, the person looking at it is always impressed, it DOES count in your favour to some degree. When I sold my M5 it was 4 years old, and had done 70K+, so it was not new looking by any stretch, but by giving it alot of elbow grease I made it look like new.
