Driving many short distances.

Ey guys.

with the job i have i tend to some times drive alot of short distances where the car doesnt even get hot. we're talking 10 - 15 min from completely cold engine to stop again. and then some hours later the same again and so on for maybe 4 times a day in periods.

i offcause also drive long distances in the weekends and some times also along the week. so its not like it never gets warm.

my question is offcause is this bad for the engine? or is there some i should be aware off like perhaps more often oil change?

thanks up front guys Smile

Regards Opane

Seriously, are you joking? With all the respect in the world cars are meant to be used like this, mine is! If you are worried at all that is what a warranty is for!

Worst case scenario is the battery may go flat.

I note that you live in Norway...which means your engine/oil will be pretty cold for a while after start up. There are pre-starter/pre-heater devices on the market that might be of interest to you.

We are at the other end of the scale...living in the UAE I tend to start my car up and leave it running with the A/C on for ten munites before getting into it and burning my fragile self on the sun heated black leather seats!

I only drive a few KM to work each day but so far the car and everything electrical & mechanical has coped admirably.

I think it's never good to drive on a cold engine, at least let it run for few minutes before taking off. Let the oil and everything else run through the engine and gearbox first, then drive on. Few minutes is enough.

I always leave the engine running for at least 5 minutes before driving off. Vadim A.
