Bright spark!!

Morning chaps.

Just someone set my mind at rest please.

On my way to work this morning (5.00 am) was a superb morning, starting to get light, nice and dry and -2 showing on the temp gauge.

So just off the A1 onto duel carriageway, nowt on the road so basicly I was testing the capabilities of the RRS and was enjoining an enthusiastic drive. When I checked my rear view, I noticed allot of sparks being thrown out the back, enough to make me concerned??

Could this just be the cat getting hot and burning off crap, or should I start to get worried??

Checked everything out when I got to work, couldn't see anything a miss or out of place, no dodgy smells (apart from my aftershave)

Anyone else noticed owt like this?? 08MY HSE 3.6 TDV8 Stornoway Grey, Twisted performance cat back... and shed loads of extras!!!

A mate of mine had a TVR that chucked flames out the back and the garage said that was normal.

Can't imagine the same goes for the RRS somehow. If youve had a good look underneath, I'd get it check out asap. FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Could it not just be a build up of soot burning off from the catalytic converter??

Think I'll be booking in to be on the safe side. 08MY HSE 3.6 TDV8 Stornoway Grey, Twisted performance cat back... and shed loads of extras!!!

Yes and no.

Basicly I called in the dealers on my way back this afternoon. Spoke to one of the workshop guys and told him what I was seeing and the speed I was doing etc... He told me it was just as I thought, build up of soot that as the air flow increases and the temperature heats up it basily burns off. I didn't have to promp him or anything so the fella knew what he was talking about!! Which gives me a little faith in the dealers, and the assurance that it is nothing to worry about.

Basicly he said the exhaust system was like the chimney in your house, and when your caining it down the road, it's the same as having the chimney swept.

Suppose its fairly logical when you think about it, but unsettling if you suddenly see glowing ash in the rear view mirror. 08MY HSE 3.6 TDV8 Stornoway Grey, Twisted performance cat back... and shed loads of extras!!!
