What shall I buy?

Hi Everyone,

I am finally ready to buy my first RRS and being someone who hates too much depreciation ( I know its not avoidable - but I wanted to try and reduce the risk as much as poss) I was just looking at some advice on what would hold its price the longest in regards to colour and extra's as I normally change cars every two years or when a warranty expires.

I have two cars to look at on Monday morning and both are roughly the same price of £46K and 6,000 miles on the clock.

1.TDV6 3.0 HSE in Sornoway Grey , 2010 (10 Plate) Only extras are Privacy glass

2 .TDV6 3.0 HSE in Zermatt Silver 2009 (59 Plate) Rear DVD Screens, Premium ICE, Sunroof, rear axle lock.., pivacy glass, cruise, beam assist

3. Wait for something else to come along?

I am not a great lover of silver , is this a not very popular colour?

Any advice would be great

Thanks in advance

Martin

I would say that Stornway & Black are the most popular / desirable so the stornway on colour but the silver has alot more so would probably fetch that bit more later on. I personally would go for one with as much as possible as standard Thumbs Up

Try to stretch your budget a little bit more and get the 2011 model, when i were looking for a black hse with black interior my dealer said they can't get enough of them but silver, he was trying to avoid as they were a smaller market out there for them, having said that, the market changes so much its hard to predict what the market will be like in two years time when you change your motor again, but if its depreciation your bothered about DON'T get a RRS

Surely if depreciation isn't your thing you'd be better off with a car a couple of Years old an save yourself over £10k!

Thanks for all the replies. Don't get me wrong, I realise a RRS does suffer from big depreciation, especially a 2010. I just wanted to try and reduce it a bit because I am a tight git! I am prepared to lose £15-17K over two years as this will make it much more competitive over a leasing deal I have been offered. I did consider getting something older but having test driven a 2008 2.7 and a 2009 3.0 there was no comparison for me.

Each to there own , but I think a silver RRS , colour coded in the places stands out far more than a darker car .

We have a 60 plate (yes that's right, a 60 plate) TDV8 HSE in Galway with Almond, with a few extras (Diamond Turned Alloys, Trakker, Remote Park Heat, Unused Factory Detachable Tow & Electrics plus mats), ex-demo (head office Directors company car) for a little more... less a forum discount!

It is up at £49,900, however I could possibly get it to £47,900 depending on PX, finance etc etc.

James Thumbs Up

Very tempting James, I need to try and see a Galway Green in the flesh as green has never been my fave colour.

Oh well, one of the cars I was due to look at has sold and the other one did not have privacy glass so I am still looking! Whilst at the dealers I was advised to have a test drive of a Discovery 4 and was very impressed but I do still prefer the look of the rrs. Obviously this is the wrong forum to ask this question but what would you say the negatives are against the Disco 4 and RRS ?

i part'ex'd my TDV8 (57) with ca.17k miles to Jaguar for £35k in May 09. I then saw it advertised at LR for £38.5k. It's now up for sale again at £32k in May 11 with 41k miles. The XKR (5Cool i bought at £53k has fallen by ca £20k although I've only added about 4k miles. I wish I'd kept the RRS!
