Yes the bridge climb is worth it... after all Oprah did it!!!! Laughing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nP-24ZPsNrE

Advise you book your tix for the climb in advance.

I used to stay at the Sheraton On the Park for business.. v. nice hotel. Doesn't have bay views though. Easy 10 min walk to the bay though.

If you want to visit the barrier reef, then Whitsundays is good place to start, however don't go to Hayman as VA says, hire my holiday house for the week and help donations to the RRSPORT forum Laughing Whistle Do one of the Reef Pontoons, you can even do a reef sleep, check out Cruise Whitsundays or Fantasea

If you want some other great things to do around Sydney, VA has captured many of them:

Weekend trip to the Hunter Valley, hire a car, maybe meet up with Jimmy Salsa, and we can also take you to Stockton beach to introduce you to the Sports on the dunes Thumbs Up

In October in Sydney, an early evening drink at the Opera bar over looking Circular Quay and the Bridge.. great place to Chill

DO THE BRIDGE CLIMB, the twilight one is best, go up in the daylight, watch the sunset and come down in the dark looking at the Sydney night time skyline Thumbs Up

Let me know when you are booked and arrived, i am sure if i am not in Singapore/India/KL and still in Sydney we can work out a good itinerary for you if you so wish Thumbs Up Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

I really can't recommend the Sydney Intercontinental *Club* rooms enough. They have the only outdoor rooftop lounge bar in the Sydney CBD that I'm aware of - which looks over the whole harbour out to the heads.

The rooftop bar.

For the bit extra you pay for Club, you get access to this bar including:

- Afternoon tea (sandwiches/cakes/teas)
- Free bar with tasting plates (5:00 - 7:00)
- Full breakfast spread (cooked/continental etc - the works)

We're hooked, and splash out on the extra to stay there on short trips. The lounge with its view and above really make it worthwhile.

In fact a great day out which we re-visit often when friends come visiting from England, includes a good breakfast up there, walk down the road to Circular Quay and hop on the ferry to Watson's Bay - this is a great ride in iteslf as they are small twin hull jet boats and race across the bay! Don't bother with a harbour cruise just jump on this Smile

Once at Watson's Bay, walk past the Doyles restaurant and head for Camp Cove.

This has got to be my favourite little bay on the harbour. Splash around there for a while and then take a walk out to the South Head (although watch out for the nudist beach you walk past at the bottom of the cliff - they're always old men standing back looking back at you!). The heads are worth a look though.

And if you time it all right, grab the best fish and chips in Sydney back at Watsons Bay (we use the take-out at Doyles and sit in the park), ferry back to Circular Quay in time to hit the free bar on the rooftop!

The Opera Bar is also on your door step and is great - hit there for the amazing ambiance and their own Opera Beer which is great when the free tab runs out Wink

To top it off, the best Thai restaurant I've found in Australia is not far - Spice I Am in Kings Cross. The soft shell crab is amazing. You're best to like your hot food though...

Hmmmm... sorry may have got carried away there, but that's a really enjoyable day out we enjoy in Sydney.

A trip out to the Blue Mountains will also let you connect with the amazing country which this is. A kayake trip out there is fun - they're are companies which organise this all in a day trip.

Enjoy![/img]

Sydney is for me my No 1,it offers so many things to do as has been previously said plus more.
We took the seaplane from Rose Bay up to Whale Beach and stayed at Jonahs which was excellent.
The restaurants at Woolamooloo Wharf are very good, as is a quick snack/pie at world famous Harrys on Wheels.

Make full use of the very good ferry services around the harbour and all points.

The biggest dissapointment for us was Bondi Beach which is a bit like Skegness.
Friday night down by the Opera House with some decent music,BBQ and a few cold ones.

Great country can't wait to get back out there again Thumbs Up

Ok so currently in Sydney. Loving it. At the shangri-la.....only disappointment is pool is indoor and it is predominantly a business hotel.

Done the zoo, opera house, cafe Sydney, doing doyles at Watson bay tomorrow.......

Just about to head upstairs to blu horizon.

Hiring a convertible for a weekend trip to hunter valley

Have I got it all covered or is there some other must do's?

Oh we are also going up the bridge as well
Thumbs Up

The jet boat rides out of the harbour are good, prepare to get wet, upset the misses & see the harbour from a different angle.

Have fun.
