"Suspension Fault" Message - Please Help!

I was driving home from work this evening when the message "Suspension Fault" appeared on the dash - along with the accompanying warning light. There was no reduced performance but when I got home the light was still on. I turned the car off and restarted it and no light. All suspension functions appear to be working but when I lowered the car into access mode and raised it again there is a faint whirring noise which doesn't seem to go away. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be. Any assistance would be much appreciated. The car is a 2005. Thanking you in advance for any advice. Hopefully not too serious....Big Cry

Might be a faulty sensor or a damaged/broken compressor. It's a trip to a dealer to check I'm afraid. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Were you going round a corner when the light came on? If so anti roll bar leak possibly its a common fault.

Check the anti roll bar fluid bottle is above the minimum, its the one at the front on the left hand side if i remember correctly

nope its a chassis off job if its the rear

front is 1200 for the roll bar, on a plus side LR only give the dealers 3 hrs to complete the job so its limited labour charges

Depends how bad the leak is mate, if its not bad u could just get some power steering fluid from the garage and top it up and keep an eye on it.
Check the fluid bottle under the bonnet first if its below the minimum chances are thats ur fault.

I have a feeling it may be the front but I will have a look at the fluid levels and see what's what. Thanks for the advice.

KIB 206 - did you find out what your problem was? I have left mine in to get looked at today. Will post an update later. The car, when I turn it off sits lower on the front left side. When I start it, everything levels out and seems normal. I can hear a whirring noise as if the air compressor is having to work harder? When I turn the car off and listen at the front, it sounds as if air is leaking from somewhere too. Apologies for the ramblings but detailling the issue may help someone else in the future. Smile

The light went out the next day and didn't come back on again.

Latest update - car has been put on the diagnostic machine and there was NO fault code generated. Just that air compressor was cut off due to overheating ( I think that's what he said!). Now thinks there is a leak somewhere. Does anyone know where these would originate if front left side lowers more than normal when I switch engine off?

Kevinlagan the easiest way to check is to leave your car in normal height switch of the engine and put something in between your for ex. driver´s door(towel or something similar so that the doors are not closed) so that the compressor can not level it because of the open door. Measure the distance from the center of the wheels to the body. Leave it like this over the night and in the morning measure it again and you will see if you have a leak in the system. 2008 RRS TDV8 HSE, Java black, Alpaca,.....

So the fault has been diagnosed! Apparently there is a hole in the pipe leading from the air compressor to the front left part of the air suspension. It was jammed against radiator which was minimising the escape of air-resulting in an intermittent fault light. Mechanic thinks it needs both pipes replaced. Anyone know the official names for these or part #? I've been told that they are £55+vat from Land Rover.

Latest update - car back from the garage and is now 100%. Two pipes leading to air suspension at front wheels replaced. Diagnostic fee of £40 + labour...£290. Could have been worse I guess.
