I fitted the blanking kit from Bell Autos today, using their excellent instructions. The pipes into the butterfly valve were pretty coked up, and I can see that they wouldnt help airflow into the engine either by their positioning, or the amount of rubbish they were sending back in.

What are these valves, what do they do and what should I look out for? Can it harm anything? Thanks. You can live in your car but you cant race your house

The EGR Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve, takes the exhaust gas back into the engine to be burnt, thereby keeping emissions down, only required to meet stupid Euro emission standards. The problem is they coke up and stick or the roller bearings inside break up. Failure rates and mileages vary, nothing you can do until the orange engine light comes on, then blank if it is a pre 2007 car or replace EGR valve in post 2007 cars. |
