Wished I'd never joined this forum

The reason being I really wanted a RRS,22k ish price, but on reading through a lot of posts on here I'm scared of going out in a morning and turning the key because of what faults/problems will occur Crying or Very sad Add that to the depriciation quoted on one thread of 400-600 a month and fuel efficency woes,I really dont know what to do.Heart says buy one, head says no. Big Cry Sad thing is I have cash sat here waiting for the right vehicle. Can anyone restore my faith?

Best car I have ever owned.....enough said.

On a forum you rarely get people singing praises of their cars, only problems....same with any forum....

As Nick explains, go and browse through BMW forum or Audi forum, they will be very similar to this forum with people asking advice for problems they encounter with their car.

Quite simply the best car i have ever owned, i look forward to driving it every day, even cleaning it. Fights ensue when me an the Mrs go out together as to who is gonna drive.

Just do as you would with any new car purchase, check history and buy from a reputable source. Thumbs Up --------------------------

I agree, it's the best vehicle I have ever owned as well.

Whether it's covering great distances on the motorway, whipping through the bends on B roads, or driving in mud and, more recently, snow the RRS will do it all in quiet comfort with 5 and luggage. And they look rather good as well.

Mine still has 2 years warranty on it for peace of mind. I'm not sure I would buy one without a good warranty though. You may be lucky and get one that is trouble free but on the other hand if you get a troublesome one it could be a real nightmare. They can generate bills into the thousands if you are unlucky. Most things electrical necessitate a trip to the dealer, and you would be surprised just how much is computer controlled in them.

Look at this way. The cost of a years LR warranty is about £900 I think. knocking off profit and admin it gives an indication of the average cost they expect to be paying in warranty work over a year on a vehicle. I've had mine a year and all it has needed is a new OSR ride height sensor and the suspension resetting. Only a minor niggle.

If you do your homework and I'm sure you will get a good vehicle that will keep the smile on your face.

Depreciation is always going to be relatively bad on a RR though it is less on an older vehicle. If you want great residuals on a 4X4 buy a Defender and a hat and coat to drive in in this weather...! Allan

I agree with all above. I have never loved a car as much as the RRS & I'm on my second one! Yes there can be issues, but as Nick & others have said already, that's the same with ANY car. When you look at a forum such as this you will always get a squewed view of problems because of the fact that it concentrates all of them into one place. They are an expensive vehicle to run, but then so are most cars that cost £50k upwards. Ultimately my advice is always go with the heart, you will always regert it if you really hanker after an RRS and don't at least try owning one. I would also suggest that the depreciation figures quoted are really only relevent if you are starting with a brand new car. If you are buying one for circa £22k then it's going to already have suffered the major depreciation hit. You are actually benefitting from that when you buy it! Only owned my RRS MY08 for a few weeks but already think its the best car i've ever bought, it did come with a LR warranty which eases the reliability worries i might add.
The thing with car forums is people generally only report faults and problems, very rarely do you report how good your car is. I bet for every ten cars with reported faults there are five thousand running trouble free.
I had the same dilema years ago when buying a Subaru Impreza. I visited a Subaru forum which was littered with engine blow-ups etc but i still bought one, even bought another and both were trouble free.
In conclusion, if you want one, go for it, RRS's are great feel good cars Very Happy

I have had 2 RRS's I love them, my 2.7 was great and very reliable and not a fault in four years!. I have recently purchased a new RS 3.0 TDV6 HSE and it already has a problem. I always say, if you like it, buy it!

Lol, I have an XF and whilst I love it to bits it is absolutely hopeless in the snow, hence the reason I'm waiting on a RRS.

I would echo the other comments on this thread -when I was looking to buy the XF I joined an XF forum and there was a lot of negativity which didn't put me off and I'm glad I bought it. This forum hasn't put me off the RRS, I can't wait. 3.0 SDV6 HSE Dynamic, Corris Grey with contrast Santorini Black Panoramic Roof, lunar interior, privacy glass, upgraded Meridian system, cooled 18 way front seats, heated steering wheel, adaptive xenons, large screen wash bottle.
