I have just bought a Macbook air 11' for doing my personal stuff, surfing, email etc when I travel.

The company issued computer (Dell Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter ) piece of Censored doesn't let me stream any audio or watch youtube etc.

I wanted the lightest smallest usable computer (nearly bought another iPad but just not quite functional enough yet). I will now have to carry two computers but the new Macbook is so thin and light that I won't really notice the extra.

The Macbook air is really great so if you have the dosh then buy X5pea's.......

I have an ipad too, and would probably just use it in the same way, but at least with Office on it,will let me be more functional - as my Mac Book pro is 17'' - and too big to carry around.....

Can't see the size of the previous model - think they came in 2 sizes before....

We have had an iPad since May last year (the MOST used device in the whole house between me and Mrs. BKHK) but I didn't know you could put "Office" on it.

Nearly bought another but discussing my needs with the Sheila in the Apple Store, it looks like the Macbook Air will give me a little more function at almost the same size. I have put Office on the Macbook to do the home accounts and stuff while I am away.

That was my point mate, because you can't get office on the ipad is why I want to get something smaller, other than my Pro which is 17''

Got my ipad at launch too in May and yes it's used so much - no having to start up with a PC, just turn on and away you go....

I don't think any other tablet will come close to it, as tried the new Samsung and it's awful

The Macbook Air wakes up instantly as well, just like the iPad. It seems I have bought the right toy for travelling! Laughing

I think you have, but you have to be sure you will use the Air for stuff you wouldn't have used the ipad for, because if you don't, thats £1000 spent when you didn't really need to.

I got the keyboard dock for the ipad - but it only goes on in portrait, when I only use my ipad in landscape....so not that good....still the best product out there

There is a stand we can buy here which holds the iPad in landscape with which you can use the bluetooth keyboard, I am sure it must be available in the UK. Its not an Apple product, I saw it in a store a month or so ago.

I will use the Air for real "homework" as well as browsing and streaming TV and audio etc. Brilliant though the iPad is, there are a few things for which the Air will be better.

We have the same stand here, a steel holder, and yes the keyboard would be a good option for it, although shame you can't use a bluetooth mouse with it.

Much better option for kids too, if you have them, not to have DVD players installed in the car and just strap the ipads onto the headrests - am sure that someone does a headrest strap for the ipad...

Thanks mate - PM if you prefer, but could I get a better price for them both? I am going to look on ebay and see how prices compare, but happy with what you're asking, so will give it some thought and will let you know
