22" Wheel Question

Ive got 22" overfinch alloys on my sport but only got a 19" spare, how do i go on if i get a flat tyre? i'm sure the rolling diamater of the 19" wheel isn't the same as the 22" wheels, any advice would be greatfully received, and no before you ask, i'm not swapping my 22's for your 19's sorry.

They should have the same rolling diameter (or within a few %)

For example 255/50/R19's have a rolling dia of 91.2"
and 285/30/R22's are 90.25"

Difference of 1.04% RRS gone

I had 22's for my S/C but Mrs pea damaged one when she hit a pot hole, well when i say pot hole i mean more, a hole to australia, anyway when i swapped it with over the 20's the automatic gear changes went to pot. when in auto mode it wouldnt change up past 2nd gear i had to knock it into sport and manually change it up a gear with the tiptronic mode.

At first i thought it was a coincidence and my S/C had developed a gear box or control unit issue but later swapped the other 22's wheels for the original 20's and bingo problem solved. Only explanation i have was that the rolling radius was fractionally out which caused the control unit to get its self in a tizzy.

Your story reminded me of an weard issue I had with my bmw 7.
I noticed one day that it would not go into top gear (forgot if it's 5 or 6 speed!)

Took it back to BMW 3 times re this and still could not resolve the issue.

One day I noticed the passenger back tyre was a little flatter than should have been, nothing major though. It was like waving a magic wand!!! Auto box was fixed Whistle

There must be speed sensors which stop things working.

I to have 22" wheels and a 19" spare. May be best to drop the psi On the spare if used to even it up a little better.

Great question Ady 555 - better to know before the event. RRS HSE with a few extras & a

even if you use a smaller diameter wheel for a few days before you get tyre fixed, i wouldnt think it would be a problem, ive heard that it is difficult to feel a punture because of the self levelling air suspension - hence the optional tyre pressure indicator

I think you can only fit up to 19" in the spare compartment. MY08 TDV8 HSE

I'm sure as a temp measure it would be fine, your hardly gonna run about with a different sized wheels on the same axel for days. LR supply 20" wheels and 19" spare so i assume there is no issues there but its well known that they arent happy with the 22" wheels being fitted, i assume this is one of the reason.
