Rear bumper removal/parking sensors not working

Hi

Im getting a single long tone and the parking sensor light is flashing when I select reverse. From what i have read this is likely to be a fault in the sensors or the module. I would like to eliminate the sensors first is there a way of telling which one may be broken? I have also read I need to remove the bumper to get at the sensors, has anyone got a diagram of how to remove the rear bumper?

Any help would be good.

Cheers

Turn ignition to POINT 1, put car in reverse, gor round back and put your ear to each sensor, the one or ones that click are the faulty ones.

I thought that if it didn't click it was not working.

Out of an other post :

more than likely one of the parking sensors have failed which then disables them all. Get someone to put it in reverse and hold the brake (sensors don't work with handbrake on) then put your ear right up against each sensor. You should hear a clicking. Which ever one doesnt click is faulty and needs changing.

Thats how ive always solved the issue on the many bmw's im always encountering with this problem. Never had it on the range!

All thanks for you help I will try this at the weekend, Chris Mc, I would imagine if they do click they are working as that would be operating the contacts?

Bobby cant see your gallery, just appears blank.

Any ideas where to find the nuts, bolts screws to remover the bumper? Been searching the net for diagrams any ideas folks? A Range Rovers for life not just off roading!

Poland 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Rimini Red

maybe not a very helpful post, but a bit strange and funny. Had similar problem. during one of the service check at LR they told me that one of the sensors is broken, but they dont have it in stock, so I need to wait. And ever since the rear sensors did not work. When I put reverse, I had a long tone, and then the sensors switched off and the dash light started to flash. Couldn't be bother to go to LR just to fix this, so was waiting for another scheduled service check.
And few months ago I had an unpleasant accident. Someone hit my rear bumper while the car was parked.
And strangily enough with this hit my rear sensors fixed themselves Smile They just started to work.
below are the pics of my rear bumper and the car that hit me. Check the difference between durability of range rover and korean daewoo Smile I had a simple fix as the bumber is plastic so it was easily to heat it up, fix and repaint. with the daewoo, maybe the picture doesn't show well, but half of the outside car parts were damaged (including the roof) Smile
