2010 Gear shift lever on earlier models?

I love the leather shift boot that comes on the 2010's. Does anyone know if a 2010 shifter/boot
will fit on 2009 and earlier? I know the console plate is different but was going to try and adapt it to my 09 by removing the accordian slide and retro fitting the 2010 shift/boot. Thx! mike murphy

Did you ever try this or come up with a solution?

I just ordered a 2009 Vogue nappa leather shift knob and boot. Will let you know how it works out. Mike mike murphy

thank you funnyguy, please do I was thinking of doing the same thing. I just don't quite know how to attach the bottom portion to the plate near the accordion selector area.

I was thinking maybe dremel it out in the same shape as the plastic or possibly removing the plastic ring at the bottom of the boot and attaching somehow.

What do you think.

Fatandre - yes that is what I was talking about.

My wife has an 2008 full size RR Supercharged and I released the boot and pulled the knob off of hers and compared it with my 2009 Sport knob. The shaft on hers is about 3/4 " longer, but the shank shape is identical. have ordered the smooth nappa leather vogue knob and boot but i think the plan is to try and adapt the new knob to the shaft on my current knob. This is going to entail trimming the gater off so the chrome ring slides up and covers like the current. Looking at the construction of the accordian slide gate it might be possible to use a dremel to enlarge the opening on but it would have to be exactly the same size as the vogue or 2010 opening so the trim on the boot would fit. Will keep you posted. Mike mike murphy
