Hi, had the same problem with our Sprinter Van this week, had the guy from Merc out who ran a thorough check on all injectors and found one leaking, it could be that you have a faulty injector. These new high pressure systems require full pressure to start properly. My TD6 Range Rover had a full failure of all 6 injectors when only 6 months old! Just an idea Idea

Now...I've got a confession to make Embarassed Having now read the manual (!) it says if the car repeatedly fails to start you should keep the start button (and brake pedal) pressed until it starts (rather than pressing and releasing the button immediately as you would with a normal start). I will try this next time I have the starting problem; hopefully it will cure it.

Memo to self: RTFM Exclamation

But many thanks anyway for all of the advice Thumbs Up 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. I take it all back. -10C this moring and we're back to square one; it took about 12 attempts to start, even with finger planted on the button as per the manual. Spoken to two local dealers. Both agreed it's not right and both suggested I call Land Rover Assistance if (when!) it happens again, because by the time the dealer can have the vehicle in, the chances are the weather will be warmer and they won't be able to replicate the fault. They say it's unlikely that any fault code will be stored as a) there is no warning given on the dashboard; and b) the engine isn't starting so won't recored a fault Big Cry 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. Sorry, no...but sounds like same problem as mine; if you get a solution from LR assistance can you please let me know. No. I've not had that. In fact I've had no warnings at all. It just turns over, fires for a couple of seconds, then dies. So far it has finally started each time after about 10 to 15 attempts, apart from last Friday when I gave up because I was late for a meeting and used another car. 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. Thanks for the update but sorry to hear you've not got it sorted. What are the symptoms - does it fire up at all? 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. Ah...not the same as mine then. Mine fires for a couple of seconds then stops. 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. Mine had this and I had to have a new started motor which cured it. Starts first time every time now. Must be a common issue with the MY10 TDV8 as I had to wait for the part as it was on back order. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

Update: happened again this morning so got LR Assist out. Couldn't find a specific fault but agreed that there was a problem as it wouldn't start Confused Mechanic has written a report and I've now booked it in with my local dealer (earliest they could get it in with a loan car was next Thursday Crying or Very sad ). Best guess is a faulty glow plug. I'll keep you posted. 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist.
