Cold Heating & Overheating

Hi, I hope you guys can help.

I hsve a rrs 4.4 v8 2005 after driving it for a few miles yesterday to car started blowing cold air through the heating inside the car.

Water levels were low and so was anti freeze. The temperature gauge stays in the middle then shoots back up when driving.

Some people say it could be the water pump thats playing up or it could be the thermostat and others are saying it could be a airlock in the heating circulation as the pipes going into the heating inside the car are cold.

Can anyone help?

I think this is a very dangerous situation and would highly recommend you to leave the car alone until you sort it out. The fact that temperature shoots up when driving sounds like engine coolant is frozen...Though you say you have anti freez. If engine coolant is frozen it can turn out tragically for the engine...
Firt thing I'd do is to make sure u have winter antifreez. Vadim A.

Hi Vadim

I've not been driving the vehichle as I dont want to cause any further damage.

I think the coolant is definately frozen somewhere as the anti freeze was low I have topped it up qwith anti freeze now but its not solved anything.

I'm pretty sure the coolant system needs to be fully flushed out as it seems that there is a major airlock somewhere.
