Hi all

Having had my S/C for a few weeks now ive definitely noticed that my left leg and hip area are cold when driving. I have the cool box option and wonder if its linked to that ?. My last car was a Mercedes SL which had the same sort of thing and i experienced the same cold feeling with that car.

Has anyone had this issue ?.

There was a fix with the SL that involved adding insulation underneath the console & sealing the trim panels so that cold air couldn't escape. It was an owners forum fix rather than MB and i wonder if others on here can offer some information similar to that ?.

Can anyone help ?.

Have you tried switching off the cold box to see if that makes any difference? Also is the ball warmer vent under the steering column open or closed? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I should have been more specific, the cool box was off. I tried turning it on but didn't notice a big difference in the cold leg feeling.

The ball warmer vent under the steering wheel has a broken slat but i dont have air coming through the centre vents, only the top & bottom options. If i put my hand on the ball warmer its not cold by any means.

The cold feeling is round the back of my leg / hip but i dont feel any obvious cold air coming up from the seat area but after a 30 minute drive i have an aching leg from it. My Mercedes did the same thing with a cool box fitted in the centre console

Any ideas ?.

If your having the same cold feeling with both cars......

Could it be you as in bad circulation in the hip area


Or a lose connection to The rear vents

I drive other cars from time to time which dont have cool boxes in the centre consoles and dont get the cold feeling.

Perhaps it is a bit of me and a bit of the car

I would like to know if anyone else has had this though.

I get it, its called sciatica.  Now gone Orkney grey SDV6 HSE with body style kit contrast stitch ebony leather, privacy, black piano, 22" Lowenharts for summer, 20" with Leon LTZ for winter.
Here 110 black edition defender.

I don't seem to have the same problem with other cars so there must be a cold area in the RRS as their was in the Merc SL ?.

Its uncomfortable rather than an obvious draught of cold air but its something id like to fix if i can.

Have you checked the vent beneath the steering wheel that blasts air into your groin area? 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Yeah, its from the back area of the seat / console not the front.

is there any air vents for rear passengers in the centre console? possible feed pipe for them maybe loose or possible the rear passenger foot blower under your seat

If you have the heat turned up, does your ass become warm, maybe a way of telling if its a loose fitting

I believe the problem could be absolutely anywhere in your car because of the way the air circulates around. I might be wrong. Obviously, the best way to find out is to go through the entire inside and see if you can identify any air leaks... you should not have much problems in finding it as you say its only 30 min and your leg is real soar, so the leak must be pretty bad. Vadim A.
