Upgrading to 22"/24" wheels?

Hi all

Better to ask this before I spend the money Embarassed What are the potential downsides to upgrading the stock 20" alloys on my Java Black SC to 22" (or maybe even 24")?

I mean from a ride/drive perspective more than looks so welcome your feedback.

Always had a thing about bigger alloy wheels on most cars I've bought and resistance is crumbling, really liking the look of these:

Appreciate your opinions/advice/thoughts!

Ali

I assume you don't have speed humps or potholes on the gold paved streets of London then ....... having to slow to snails pace to get over/across them without damage will be a drag if you go to 24's. You might also be better to wait until after the winter

LOL plenty of speed humps & pot holes in The Big Smoke but usual hazards aside any issues going up to 22"?

Maybe 24" is a little excessive on reflection but I'm guessing 22" isn't too big a jump?

Cheers

I have 22's on my RR Sport and love them, originally bought it with 20's and got rid of them as soon as i took delivery.

No problems with them and cannot feel any difference in ride at all.

^^^

Thanks guys for your feedback, appreciate it. Think I'll hold off the 24" wheels as might be too blingy for me.

Thanks Anthony for your kind offer but looking to go 22".

if you go for 22 make sure you don't get 295/30/22 the ride is much better with 285/35/22

If you go above 20" wheels/tyres be very careful that the bigger size doesn't chafe on the suspension system or the brake lines on lock - somebody reported this as being a problem with larger than 20" wheels a while ago, especially if you also need to lower the car to access mode in a carpark with tight bends on the ramps 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

@KR1005/Rislar - Thanks for the advice, will make sure I get the tyre size you suggested. By the way Rislar, I guess that pic is your 22" wheels? They look stunning, I assume it's not lowered suspension?

@Tim - Thanks, I guess I wouldn't know this until after getting them fitted though? If so what's the alternative, back to 20"s or can some other remedial work be done to avoid the chafing?

@Chris - Lucky man, can I ask how much they cost and from where?

Cheers again guys for your input.

Ali
