Help electronic oil gauge!!!

Hi All,

Just gone and checked the fluid levels (Monday ritual) and well twisted what i was told by Salesman was the dipstick and pulled off a 2" plug!,after a quick panic pulled out manual which now tells me it is all dealt with by electronics.my problem is that the system appears not to register that there is oil in the engine this i would imagine has been caused by me unplugging sensor, how can i get the thing working again!!.

Cheers

stop fiddling and take it back to the dealer and ask the salesman to clean the dipstick Laughing
the car should tell you when it needs oil . sounds like you found the oil vacuum pipe for oil changes.

Try checking it again when it's cold. I assume you followed:

Ignition On>
Menu>
Service Menu>
Oil Level>

If it says "Not Available" then it may be that the car is too hot at too much of an acute angle.

Hope this helps?

Do what James suggests but wait at least 5-10 min after a run. Vadim A.

Not sure what you unplugged but definitely not the oil sensor!

I think on 2010MY vehicles, instead of a mechanical dipstick, an ultrasonic sensor is mounted to the underside of the oil pan where it sends an ultrasonic pulse vertically upward, and it then measures the time for the pulse to be reflected back from the top surface of the oil. This provides an electronic indication of the current oil level.

Warnings will be displayed in the message center if the oil level is not maintained within the safe operating levels (minimum and maximum). A warning will also be displayed if there is a fault with the oil level monitoring system.
